I need help. I own a exotic cat that I am binded by contract not to declaw and my wife wouldn't let me anyway. I am looking for a cover for my pool table that is lightweight, durable and the cat can't claw threw. I would also like for it to cover the rails. I own a Burnswick GC III 9ft. Any help would be greatly appreicated as I am using plywood at the moment. LOL It's to heavy and hard to move my wife can't play when I'm not home. Thanks in advance. Rich

Get a cheap table cover and line it with foam that way if tigger
claws it it wont reach the cloth

or replace the plywood with a couple sheets of foam insulation ... Wifey can lift that for sure

Some cats HATE aluminum foil. If yours is one of them, maybe try covering a regular table cover with it.

Take cat for ride in truck. Open door, BOOT! Problem solved.

If wife objects, repeat process. Problem solved.

My relatives moved after living in the same house with their cat for about 10 yrs. the cat was born there, literally. They moved 50 miles away and several times in the following years they received a call from the new owners that the cat made its way back to its original home.

If your wife does not want you to have the cat claws cut, then maybe she does not need to play pool when you are not around! Problem solved.

You could put a dog in the pool room and not have to worry about the cat coming in the room! Problem solved!!

i got enough with the cat in the house lol but like you said she just cant play when im not home

If the cat is not an outdoor cat there is nothing wrong with having the front claws removed. It does save a lot of grief with furniture and pool tables.

get one of these covers & your cat can't get to your Pool Table. They are great. This one has the hard foam in it so the top of the table is flat.

P.S. it's for sale

Have you tried trimming the cat's nails? :p Trimming 'em twice a week should help a lot in saving your pool table and other furniture. You could also buy some scratchings posts and train the cat to use it. Don't forget to squirt the cat with a water bottle when you see him on top of the pool table.

Revisit the declawing again, maybe discuss it with the vet. Lets face, it you and the cat have to live together and the truth is, you are more important then a cat and that comes from someone with four cats. I would not declaw a cat that went in and out but if it is just a house cat, it is no problem, the cat will never know the difference. Your next alternative is, you have to carefully maintain the cats claws and don't let them get where they can be so destructive, that is what I do. All the cats get their nails clipped and filed as well as good combing. I also use a thing called "Furminator" to remover the hair that is in the coat and can get all over the house and on your pool table.

It is your responsibility to make a situation where you and the cat can both be happy. Just covering up the table is the easy part.
One of my cats is sleeping right here on the corner of my desk right now and I am sure one is probably on the covered pool table. They like the cool feeling of the slate I think.

What kind of cat is it by the way? My cats are all former rescues and mixed but one is an Abyssinian.

my wife has a bengal it doesnt mind water much so spraying it dont work and when we trim his claws he seems to scratch more then ever trying to sharpen them back up and as for declawing him when we bought him the lady made my wife sign a contract saying she would not declaw it and she wouldnt do it anyway so the only thing i can do is try to find a cover that is easy to put on&off that he cant scratch through

Bengals are beautiful hybrid cats. Contrary to what a previous poster wrote, declawing cats can be a very painful procedure.

Check out the following web site, which has information on dealing with destructive behaviors in cats:
