Need help please

It's been many years since I have had a tip pop off but it has now happened. I have a customer that has a McDermott I-Shaft. I just went to there site to learn about these shafts as this is the first one to come my way. The ferrule is very short and has a build in tennon that goes into the wood of the shaft. I'm not sure what the material is. Most of the time I use Loctite gel super glue but this time I used Loctite gel super glue ultra control. I thought this stuff was a little better because of the rubberized part of it. Not an old tube, opened it about three weeks ago and always keep it in the fridge, Any one have problems like this with these ferrules or any helpful hints, Thanks Guys.

After you open CA, you keep it OUT of the fridge.

Joey is right, don't put CA in the fridge after you open it. Any air that gets into the tube, and there will always be some, will condense the moisture and start to cure the adhesive.

It may be glue starvation. Some tips seem to soak up the CA and starve the glue joint. Just coat the tip with a thin CA and wipe it off, let it dry, and resand flat.

If it's not glue starvation, then, almost always, either the tip or the ferrule is not completely flat. You want them to fit together like 2 pieces of glass if you could get them that way. No score marks or gouges or anything like that, just 2 clean flat surfaces that fit together with no "rocking" or wiggle.

Keep it simple. 2 flat surfaces glued together with CA.

It has been discussed before that certain asian materials that are used for ferrules just won't hold the tip with CA. I have had a few cues that popped off several tips until I changed the ferrule. Then no more problems.

I have had problems with some of the ferrule materials not holding. The tip would just about fall off by itself with some but I have found for some reason if I put a tip pad on then the tip it would stay on. Not sure why it would not glue the tip but works on the pad but it does.

take the cue you are having problems gluing and work as usual facing it off. but before you re glue new tip on, take regular super glue,(not gel) and add it to the end of the shaft and let dry. Use a foam brush to apply a nice ample amount to the end of the shaft. Maybe even a couple coats. then reface off lightly not to remove all of the super glue you added,then glue your new tip on. adds a nice thin barrier to your problem ferrule for your new tip to be installed on. simple fix and works with all problem ferrules.
