Need help regarding pool tips

I've been playing with a Black Medium Kamui pool tip for the last few years. I absolutely love the pool tip, however, I have a problem with the tip glazing over quite often. I tend to miscue a lot on draw shots and shots where I need to hit high and follow forward. Is there any comparable tip out there that hits as good as a Black Medium Kamui tip but doesn't come with the issue of constantly having sand the top of the tip or having to use a tipik all the time. I've heard, for instance, that the G2 tip from Japan is a great tip. It supposedly is grippier than the Kamui tip. Would appreciate any help regarding this issue.

I like the G2 medium and the Kamui Medium Black, but I prefer the Kamui. I never have had a glazing problem although I've heard that others have. I'm just lucky I guess.

Had the same problem with Kamui, try the Ultra Skin or Ki-tech, better, cheaper and no glazing.

Zan medium's play great and no glazing. I found kamui blacks have that problem but the browns don't

Try Kamui Brown or Ultraskin tips though I recommend Ultraskin tips because they're significantly cheaper, Kamui overprices their products by a huge margin.

And for the record, don't ever use a tip pik on layered tips...you shred the leather that way.

Just FYI EagleSoar...miscues happen because of a poor stroke, or not chalking properly, rather than because the tip is "shiny". I NEVER rough my tips...even after a rare miscue. I just chalk them and keep playing.

Tiger Sniper

I just changed from Kamui black mediums to Tiger Snipers. I tried to match up duro because I liked the hard hit of the Kamui after considerable use but didn't like other aspects of the Kamui.

The Sniper is a few points softer but has a very similar feel (Predator 314 shafts) to the hard hit I had with the Kamui. So far I like it, but I haven't had them on long enough to swear by them.

I tried to go to the Kamui Black a couple years ago and ran into the same issue.

Before that, I was playing the Tiger Onyx. Shouldn't have tried to fix something that wasn't broken. Went back to the Onyx and haven't had a problem since.

I went from Kamui Black Soft (which I really liked) to Pooldawg's Milk Duds...I like them better than anything I've ever tried, it lasts as long as a layered tip, holds it's shape as well and grips even better. And they're only $3 a pop.

Indeed. I use Kamui black soft or medium. The surface of the tip is a nice smooth dome shape. I never need to rough it up. It doesn't need to be a hairy surface like a rug to grab the cue ball. You just need chalk. If I miscue, I blame myself.

Lets try an old faithful elk master pressed firmly...just saying start with the old single layer and progress forward if we are not getting the result we want...I have played with several layered including the first gen. moori, back to a pressed elk master and ball teck ...success

I have tried a number of layered tips and had some miscues issues with them all.
In fact after playing with a Sniper for about 2 hours I whipped out my pocket knife and cut it off and left it to rot on the pool room floor.
Disclaimer-I do spin the hell out of the cue ball and many shots are on the very edge of the cue ball. It's just how i play.
I have found that the combination of a Ki Tech solid tip and Blue Diamond chalk has pretty much eliminated miscues.
Plus the fact that I will never pay $20 for a tip plus installation costs, that's just nuts in my not so humble opinion.
