The corvette in the barn story owned by the boy that went to viet nam, it was a song, great song, if you are interested i will look up the name of it. I think the name was, Riding with Private Malone. Not sure, but have the cd.

I have heard that story for about 25 years.

Thats great.. car stories, like you, I have heard them all. They seem to be pretty consistent all around the country. But so are Bushka and Boti stories. I have heard the same story about a Bushka tomato stake / door jamber oh.. about 25x, the Gus at the flea market for 10.00 a dozen times.

JV

Ray Martin, yes the HOF Ray Martin told me about a guy in FL chasing a dog out his yard with Balabushka.

Ray had some neat cues, but I am not sure how they do chasing dogs out of yards.

i found a gibson les paul goldtop standard from the 1970's at the berlin farmers market here in camden county nj. i paid like 150$ at like 6 am. the neck was warped in it like a bananna. i took it home and and found out the truss rod in the neck was loose or disconnected so i turned it until it caught then neck straightened back up and it played great. true story

1988 Baklabuska is made by the ADAM Cue Company

I have the ADAM Cue Companies 1988 catalog. In that Catalog they list George Balabuska Cues (just like their current Balabuskas).
So, FYI, if the cue is a 1988 Balabuska it's an ADAM cue.
George Balabuska died in 1975.

This is the second time I've seen this happen..

My buddy owns a pawn shop and had a guy bring in one of these. The guy was so happy saying how good of a deal he got payin $700 I believe...

Some people who don't know any better can really get taken over on these Adam cues. They did go the distance to put Balabushka on the forearm, As a real one will not be signed..

But for the people who don't know that much it can be brutal. Adam should start putting their Lion logo on the butt plate...

He never did sign "any" of his cue ever correct? I've never seen a real one in person...

Been watching the Legends Of Pool on espn classic here lately.. You know the ones with Fats, Moore, Pucket, and the rest of them guys...

Wonder what cues they were playin with.. That Fats could still shoot a little in the early 80's... So could Irving.. But the rest of them were pretty blah.. I don't really like watching these.. Not for the play anyway.. It says 1982 for that tournament.

Yeah, ESPN Classics has recently gone from the Ladies WPBA 9-Ball tour to the Legends Tournaments they put together for TV. They also had on a US Open Straight Pool Championship with Luther Lassiter vs Cicero Murphy (1968 I think). Murphy starts with an opening break safety, Lassiter then runs 58 balls and misses, Murphy then runs 111 balls misses and then Lassiter runs out. WOW!

George Balabuska never signed his cues, that is an ADAM thing. The ADAM Balabuskas are fairly decent cues but not a reasonable investment at what the MSRP is or even at the 20% off most online stores sell it for. If you can steal one, price-wise, and then put an OB-1 or 314-2 on it you've got a pretty strong production cue; IMHO. But you can do the same with a Schon or Pechauer and have a cue that you can at least re-sell later on and not give it away.

No guaranteed money return on custom cues either. Market will always dictate prices.

Btw; I played with an original Balabushka and have yet to hold a comparable cue. Maybe it was the aura who knows but back in the late 60s Balabuska was not as revered as it is today. I just wish my game today was what IT was in the 60s. Damn time flies.

Sorry,
Not the real George..
I'm sure there's a signiture in the forearm
Close to 15 years old..
Adams GB-3

This is a true car tale from my home town, in the early 1920's a Indian Trail NC man who was called Frocky Jack Morgan because he wore womens skirts, went to Monroe NC and bought a new copperhead T model Ford. He drove the car eight miles and parked it at his home and built an addition to the house around the car, when he died in the ninety's during the estate sale the car brought $135,000 and had to be removed piece by piece and rebuilt outside the house since the buyer didn't buy the house also. The new owner sold it to the Ford Museum for one million dollars because the fancy shiny copper radiator cars were very rare exp. with eight miles and original tires.

A fellow's son died in the Viet Namm conflict and his orange Hemi Superbird rotted away in the driveway for real, Nick Serdula may have seen that car it was on the south side on the Perdido bridge connecting Alabama and Florida on the Florida side..... 4spd car with a black interior, most were 440's with a automatic...... I saw the car for years, looked at it several times

Holy crap! I think I remember that car from when I lived in P-cola back in the late 70's early 80's!!! Actually lived in Warrenton, and practically lived out at Johnson's Beach! Was up and down Perdido Key as I had friends out there. Regular stops were the FloraBama Lounge and the Cutty Sark...LoL! We're talking the days BEFORE there was one single condo on the beach...pristine!

That car was HAWT!!!! Loved that Competition Orange!

BTW, to keep this pool related.....this was where I first started to really play pool, with the Navy boys...LoL. I NEVER paid for a beer, used to have them stacked up and giving them away...hehehe. I was married to a real A-hole at the time...he couldn't stand that I played better pool than him....he got so mad one night, he broke his cue in half. Then I came home from work to find that he had sold my cue to a friend of his. 'Course, this was the same guy that found out I was riding his motorcycle daily when he was out on the boat for two weeks at a time....training carrier...and when he got back, GAVE the bike away...what a total a$$!!

Lisa <==== misses the good ol' days in the FL sun! :(

Was "The Reef" there at time? How about that concrete "Condo" frame that stood for years by Johnson Beach, I bought a unit in the first Condo on Perdido Key, pre Fredrick unit 219 at the "Mariner" used to go see live music at "The Barrels" in Pensacola, saw the Alaman Bros Band there.

I have played with a Balabushka and boti as well. But it is kinda like comparing cars from the 60s to cars now. The Balabushka hit very nice, but the Butt was very large, for my taste.

Dick Abbott plays leagues with a boti and it plays as good as any cue I have played with. But then again, different era, IMO.

As far as playing the Boti was a 10 with the Buska at about 6.

Which cue would I rather have...well thats another story.

The Balabuska and the Rambow cue were featured in Billiards Digest talking about the cues at the DCC. I bought the Rambow.

Yes! The old concrete condo frame was there!! I DO remember 'The Reef' as well!! Golly, I remember when Frederick completely wiped out the dunes at the park end of the beach, and they trucked all that sugar sand in to rebuild them! I do remember that first condo that went up too....silly me, thought it might be the only one...little did I know.

Ahhh yes, 'The Barrels', I remember it well! The guys were ALWAYS trying to get me to get into the wet -t-shirt contest there...LoL. And 'Ritchies' on Old Corey Field Rd...learned to drink BoilerMakers there! I worked as a bartender at that little hole-in-the-wall juke joint called 'The Tank' that was under the water tank in Warrenton, on the highway out to Johnson's Beach. Back then, would go out to the beach every day during the week, because the place would be deserted...it was very cool!

Also used to go to 'Shenanigan's' at Pace and Palafox a lot too...as well as 'McGuire's Irish Pub'. There used to be an old bottle club over on Old Corey Field Rd as well, but cannot remember the name now. Oh, and when I was in a band, we used to play at 'Mama Reds'...the biker bar on the highway to the beach.

I cannot even believe I can still remember all of this!! I had some VERY good times in ol' P-cola. Miss the Hurricanes at Phineas Phogs in the Quarter. I better stop...I could go on and on.....don't want to be accused of a thread hi-jack...LoL!!! :D
