first off, hello to all, I need some help deciding between two new sticks,,one is a predator 5k5,other is a schon stl11.. have heard good things about both,,, just need a push one way or the other... my back round is im rated a 6 in apl 9 ball league and been shooting with a meucci and want to step up... like this site alot and would appreciate any help...thanks cory

Go ahead and get the predator. More than likely, you'll eventually want the 314 shaft. This way, it'll come with the cue to begin with.

Both of those cues have been used by GREAT players.

I mean, it's almost like saying, "I need a car to get to and from work. Should I get the Porche or the Ferrari?"

My suggestion would be to find a friend that has either cue and ask to shoot with it. More than a few shots, maybe play an hour or so, to determine if you really like the hit. Because a Meucci cue plays different than either of the two you are asking about.

I think you should go with the predator. I use to shoot with one and i thought it was a really solid cue. The deflection with the predator will obviously be less. Good Luck with whatever cue you decide on.

Absolutely, play with both before deciding if you can. Meucci and Schon are at opposite ends of the shaft stiffness scale. Otherwise buy the Schon. Good luck.

I just purchased the Schon STL6, and although it is taking some getting used to mainly because it is a whole 1 oz. heavier than the Ray Schuler I have been using for 3 years I really like it ALOT. You will not regret it to say the least. I can't tell any difference between the Predator shaft and the Schon shaft. The Schon tip is harder than I am used to but had a med/hard Moori sent with it and just haven't gotten it on yet. From Ebay experience Schon's hold their value a little better than a Predator but this is just my opinion. Go with the Schon man and you will love it.

As a Schon owner and Predator shaft owner I have experience with both.
I would definately recommend the the Schon, also unless it's the specific look of the STL 11 you're after, all STL's are gonna play almost exactly the same

I will shamelessly push the Predator.

The 5K series is sealed with black linen phenolic both ends of the butt and the joint end of the shaft.

The butt is cored with 4 piece laminated maple.

The 2nd generation 10 piece shaft has lower squirt and a crisper hit.

You can find these features on their website but ya got to be a bit persistant.

schon!

Having used both kinds, I'd say to go with the SCHON cue...You won't have to worry about breaking a ferrule and having it replaced quickly by anyone. If you break a thin predator ferrule, you gotta go through the hassle of sending it to them and waiting ALOT more time to get it back, and thats not even saying they'll honor any warranty on em'. Go with the SCHON man!!

Absolutely... Or you could save yourself a few bucks and buy a Falcon.

I agree.....I love my Falcon cue, it was a great transition from my old Meucci:) Not too expensive either! Sorry, got a little off the subject:rolleyes:

I love Schons, but Falcons hit really well for half the price; in fact, Falcons and Schons are somewhat similar in the hit. Falcon to a Schon is a nice progression, in my opinion.

I like Schon better. Falcon or Joss are very good as well.

Joss makes beautiful cues. Their shafts are just too stiff for me, though.

schon....you can always pick up a predator shaft for it if you think you want to try the low deflection.
