Need recommendation on billiard light

had a similar problem but in reverse,

I had 2 light/fans but nothing centered above the table. I mounted a 1 x 6 hung the light centered and "swagged" the electricity from a fan and put in an on/off switch for the coffin light. The fans work off the wall switch and have independent pull chain switches for the light or 3 speed fan.

Move your fan and hang the light centered and 'swag' the electricity to the fan from the light. Put in an on/off switch for the light

Sorry for crappy pic

if you want to keep the fan, I have played in several home rooms with excellent lighting provided by track lights. The key using spot style lighting is quantity. You could hang a track on either side of the vault about halfway down, and use 6-8 lights in each track of a HID type pointed at various parts of the table. This provides a nice bright light, and the multiple angles minimizes shadows, even when putting your body in front of one of 12lights while making a shot.

standard industrial type.

Look at the lighting on the tables in your picture. I imagine it looks quite a bit different in person, but it's clear that the quantity of light in the central half of the tables is much greater than near the ends of the tables, despite having 6 fixtures over each table. I wouldn't consider that to be good lighting for pool. But the fixtures do look nice.

valuted ceiling

I ran some heavy cables from one side of the room through a beam ,when these have tension added they hold a light very well .I think my light weighs a little less than 65 lbs.Still need to stain my light but it works great with the ceiling .Also rolls over for easy light change or cleaning .

live in FL w/same issues. dump the ceiling fan, install a real pool table light & buy some decent floor fans

any recommendations for what kind of bulbs to use? the fixture i bought holds 3 bulbs. was thinking just some white 100watt bulbs but i see lots of people talking about fluorescent bulbs. and AFAIK the only fluorescent bulbs ive seen that are the tube style are the energy efficient curly looking ones. just dont wanna be going back and forth buying different bulbs

The compact florescent bulbs are not to bad, just make sure you get a high enough watt. 100w should do the trick.

lose the black cloth

Do yourself a favor and lose the black cloth. Black is the hardest cloth to be able to read the shadows on and your trying to get by with minimal lighting. any other color would be better than black. The 8' flourescent shop fixture can be hung from chains that dont interfere with your fan it just takes extra chain and extra attatchment points. Good luck

ps any added electrical usage IS going to cost more whether its a light setup or more fans. We have good luck with air movement from a floor fan called a VORNADO, here in las vegas

PPS .... one reason tournament blue is used because it helps to make low lighting situations better

from the looks of the room and fan placement, the chains will get in the way of the fan blade no matter what i do. and im hoping the black felt will be ok once i get the lighting situation set.

I built my light for around $300. I used 7 four foot dual T8 bulb fixtures, and some diffuseres very similar to diamonds. I mounted it with some 1/4 inch chain and its way more light than i need, but you cant blame any miss on a shadow or lack of lighting

I realize this thread is over 2 years old but in case someone has a similar situation, here is the light kit I added to my 68" Altura fan which produces a good breeze at a slow speeds (no wobble). The kit was $150 shipped and the light is bright with 5 CFLs and each fixture is adjustable.
