Need some basic rules for Golf

I need a rundown of all the foul rules for golf when played for money and just for fun. Anyone have a link to somewhere where they're posted? I'm talking about the version played in California, not the snooker version that pairs up colored balls so that everyone has a different cueball.
 
This will get complicated. It seems everywhere you go, the game is played differently. You'll need to know if you pull the ball from the table on a hickey or not...whether you lose a hole if you take 3 consecutive fouls...whether it is mandatory that you shoot at your ball or not when snookered...these rules all have variations throughout the country.

If you fail to hit your ball, it comes off the table, and is respotted on the foot spot for your next turn. And you get a hickey naturally.
P.S. Hard Times is in Bellflower, not Bell.

Can you explain this?? I've never heard of a snooker version. I know the game is popular on a snooker table, not necessarily with snooker balls. I've also never heard of everyone having a different cue ball.

There was a book written on the official rules of GOLF...by Kenneth LeBar in the late 60's/early 70's. Only reason I know this is because Kenny LeBar {R.I.P} was a friend of mine. I can ask around for a copy but its a tough find.

Ask John Henderson. He could tell you the rulles from every room between Chicago and LA.

There are so many different golf rules it would be impossible to list them all. Some places go around the opposite way just to confuse things more. The most complicated rules I ever played were Gypsy golf in LA. They were so tough we gave up trying to beat the Gypsy's, who would gamble high at it. They had so many ways to go back a hole, you couldn't get around the table. I haven't played there in a few years, but Hard Times in Bellflower had the best gambling rules. I think the key rule is your ball has to come off the table on a scratch. We also used to play you pay the price of the game on a bad hit or making an apponents ball (eliminates reckless kicking and takeouts). Other rules are adjusted to make the game even because of equipment and level of players. On soft tables they often spot the ball on the 7 spot to cut down running holes. I have told this story before, but it bears repeating on a golf post. I was on the road with Poker Paul from San Jose. We were in The Corner Pocket in Alb., New Mexico and I was playing some $20 a game & stalling on a terrible 5 x 10 that had a loose rail. A guy in an Animal Control Uniform was sweating it and asked if I would bet more. I said yes, but not on this equipment. He said there was a better table at another joint. Off we went and when the smoke cleared I lost $700. Poker Paul never said a word until we got to the room. He looked at me and said " I got me a helluva road man, the dog catcher beats us for $700. Turned out the guy used to own the pool room. I got my money back, but it took a week and three more plays.
