Hello all,

I am having problems with a new tip staying on it has came off for the third time now and curious to see if it has happened to anyone else. It's with a first generation Z predator shaft. It gets done by a local cue maker, he told me maybe it was the glue had got hot so this last time he used a different stronger glue he said. I got my shaft back last week and used it that same day during league, was fine and all until the end of the night when I had used bottom English. I haven't told him yet about this third time the tip fell but I'll be taking it to him later this week. I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else where the tip doesn't stay?

Would it be the ferrule that doesn't hold? Or the tip that isn't sticking with the glue? Or possibly my shooting? I have never had this problem with my other shafts this is the only one I don't use this shaft often just every here and there. Is it possible that the tip is too tall and maybe need to cut it down half way?

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Thank you :)

I always kept my super glue in the refrigerator, when not in use.
Also, after the old tip was removed and the ferrule was squared, I would cross-hatch the ferrule end with a razor blade, taking care not to come all the way out to the ferrule's edge. Worked every time.

You didn't say what kind of tip it is.
Normally I use LocTite super glue gel.
Make sure the back of the tip is a little rough and the end of the shaft/ferrule is cross hatched.

Sand the glue side of the tip, use thin ca to wick the tip then used ultra control gel made by loctite

Pred shafts have nylon ferrule. Tough for the CA to grab.
Spray it with an accelerator and put the CA on the tip.

It's an Ultra skin tip a soft.

Thanks for your guys replies.

Hey Joey, what do you think is better keep trying to stick the tip on or put a different tip on the shaft? It's done on a Lathe so I'm sure he does it correctly.

In the past I've had trouble getting a tip to stick to a pad. Never had a tip come off that was glued directly to a ferule. Does pads require a different glue?

Is he putting the tip on the ferrule first
or the ferrule on the tip first?
very important to do it in the correct order.
