thanks for your adviced I will look into that.desert1pocket said:I've always had great luck with bison chucks. The ones I've had all ran very true, and stayed that way despite significant use and abuse.
P.S. I'm not a cuemaker, so my advice comes from my experience as a machinist.
thank Mr. Neighbors, rhncue said:Buck chucks are a little pricey but they are good chucks. A lot depends on how old you are and how long you'll be using it. Bison and a couple of Chinese set-tru 6 jaw scroll chucks are just about as accurate as the Buck but they will wear faster with a lot of use.

LOL... when I am tried of working on cues I might have to do that.JoeyInCali said:Forget the chuck.
Send me the lathe.
I did heard of the collet system. But I also heard that collet system it might be very limited to variable size for the different work pieces?RocketQ said:IMO buy a diect mount adjustable chuck if you buy a chuck. Bison make s avery good chuck as does buck and autoblok. Very expensive though. If you are going to spend a bunch of money on a chuck I would suggest rather looking into a collet system. 16c or J2 Don't know how big the spindle bore is but I would look collet before chuck. JMHO
It would be.FLYINGSNAIL said:I did hear of the collet system. But I also heard that collet system it might be very limited to variable size for the different work pieces?

It is but to get down to less than .001 of runout, set true ( not self centering ) are the way to go.Craig Fales said:http://www.grizzly.com/products/6-6-Jaw-High-Precision-Scroll-Chuck/G9856
I always thought this is a good chuck for the money.
Not if you use a spur drive. Put in a center and spin away.JoeyInCali said:It would be.
And you will need another lathe to turn down pieces to fit the collet.
Bison 6-jaw set true chuck cost around $600 plus the backplate.
Shaish, never thought of dat.RocketQ said:Not if you use a spur drive. Put in a center and spin away.
