I use it after my first 2 cuts on all wood. I haven't had any problems at all for the most part.

From A Players Point Of View.....
Nelsonite Doesn't Belong On Shafts. It Changes Density Of The Maple, And In My Opinion, Detracts From The Hit.
I Prefer Non Treated, Properly Aged And Turned Shafts.

Try Resolute. My cuemaker Joe Baker switched to it a short while back, and has been very happy with it. ALOT Less odor, same if not better job.
