I bought this old brunswick, saw bad photos of it but it was cheap so i bought it. When it arrived, i found both shafts crooked, but i can use the butt for a conversion. I noticed two small black holes on each side of the butt and found out that when pressed a wood pin would move, I removed it, and the butt cap came off, then, the cardboard that had been rolled up to fit the hole, then out came some stuffed up cloth, then the weight had been rolled in cloth, and wrapped with adhesive tape to the correct diameter. I removed the cloth and found a new .36 inch diamerer drill bit. as the drill was a bit lite, the CRAFTSMAN, wrapped lead solder around the bit until he got just what he was looking for in the weight.

That looks like a good candidate for a full core. Half of the hole is already there.:D
 
Several years ago, we received an OB shaft that was sent back because it was making a rattling sound. Upon inspection, we did find that it was rattling which was a surprise to us because there just isn't really anything in there that can come loose and rattle. We found a couple of dozen BB's that had been dropped into the joint hole with tissue stuffed in on top of them.

I guess he wanted his shaft a little heavier.

Wow! One wonders what else they tried before they were satisfied with that setup. Cool! Thanks for sharing.

I bought an old Palmer window cue, titlist conversion. I removed the bumper and it had cash folded up in a very small tight flat stuffed under the bumper. It was the wrong bumper, and I thought I would remove it and AZ member Tate, sent me the correct one. When I got the proper bumper, and removed the big hollow one, that's when I found it.

Only time I had found that. :eek:

no one here has ever used a tap for a weight bolt then Id bet.....lol
 
Funny you should mention that. While it wasn't my intent, it turned-out that way.
I had a cue come my way that the owner wanted as much wght. added as possible.
I said that I could drill 12" deep and install a 1/2"x13xwhatever wght.-blt.
I was given the go-ahead and proceeded. The drilling went as expected.
Years earlier I had made a 12"L 1/2" tap by welding an extension to the tap.
I had used the tap many times over several yrs previously with excellent results.
This was to be it's last hurrah. As usual, I marked the tap for depth and started tapping.
About 1/8-1/4" from final depth, the tap snapped where it was welded.
My extension came out but not the tap. I didn't even try extraction, he wanted the wght.

In the early 90's there were a few cuemakers who built removable butt plates and made a stash place inside the cue on some of their custom cues.
