And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good. The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.I have it on my diamond 9 foot and you have to have a stroke to get around the table, no more dinking the ball here and there, you can jump with a regular cue and hardly any breaking track lines even after 4 months of continuous play.
I'm not concerned about it being the next best cloth for 9ft pool tables, but what would you say if Diamond makes it the basic cloth on all their 7fts, and offered an upgrade to Simonis for an additional cost to the buyer? Still only 5%?The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.
That's like saying if all you ever play on is tables with tight pockets, you'll suffer playing on tables with bigger pockets, or if all you play on is Diamonds, your game will suffer playing on any other tables. A player adapts their game to what ever they play on, or did you forget that rule? And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good.
Have you played on the Strachan Superweave, or is that just an uneducated guess? And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good. The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.
Maybe I should remind you of the 1,000's of complaints I got when I first started pioneering the Iwan Simonis 760 green cloth in the PNW during the late 80's, what a nightmare that was. The only reason that even happened was because the pool industry lost the Stevens cloth manufacturing, left with the Mali cloth as the next in line choice of cloth, along with Charles House, Warren, Forrestman- and Championship cloth, which really wasn't much of a choice! And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good. The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.
This is the core of the "issue". Consistent playing conditions are a must. Again, I have NEVER had someone order a table from me and ask for anything other than the standard style worsted cloth. I will admit my home room used to have Mercury Ultra for 20+ Years and just last year I installed Simonis 860 in Blue green on all of them and there was no surprise: EVERYONE LIKES IT. This was the first time since the tables were installed in 1992. I am not sure how any slower cloth is the answer to anything. Sound like someone "wants" to make a change and I think the market will stick with what its doing now. Predator is at the forefront of pool technology. They just came out with their own worsted cloth. I will take that as a market researched and well thought out decision. Not just "because I said so" type of Bull$hit. And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good. The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.
This is really the crap behind all of this: SOMEONE HAS A $$$$ INTEREST IN BUYING IT ALL UP AND TRYING TO CREATE A DEMAND ON SOMETHING THAT IS NOT PROGRESSION> Things that make ya go HMMMMM?? Thanks for being honest and letting us all know what the real motives are. MIC DROP......Someone we know (who was instrumental in bringing it to market) has been buying it up like crazy, good luck finding it in tour blue.![]()
Strachan has been producing world class cloth now for over 150 years now, I wouldn't exactly call it new to this industry, they k ow how to make cloth. That's why when Simonis bought them, that opened the doors to producing a new bar table cloth, because this industry could use a NEW bar cloth made very well, not to compete against the 9ft market place, but to give support to the bar table industry and bar owners nationwide!!And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good. The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.
Didn't take me but about 15 mins to get used to the Derby tables after practicing on my table for over a month. Just like any other table or tournament. You have to adjust. And Derby tables are crazy fast. And if you go play almost anywhere your speed control will be so bad you'll have no chance of playing good. The chances of this stuff being a commercial success on a broad basis is 5% at best.
I love both for pool (Simonis 860) and Snooker (Strachan).Strachan has been producing world class cloth now for over 150 years now, I wouldn't exactly call it new to this industry, they k ow how to make cloth. we had andy988 in our place and it was awesome. every bit as good as simonis.I love both for pool (Simonis 860) and Snooker (Strachan).
Lately though, the rooms around Australia and bar boxes have been using CPBA or Andy cloth on pool tables.
To save money it seems.
When they are new, they are ok, but get worn faster and are more slidy, less grip.
What are your thoughts on this?
Do you find it lasts as long as Simonis?we had andy988 in our place and it was awesome. every bit as good as simonis.
HR is faster than reg. 860 so its no surprise your new rug is fast. Give it some time. All cloth shows burn marks.I recently installed Simonis 860HR on my Pro 8 Gold Crown. Significant burn lines in both the classic and 2nd ball 8 ball break areas. It's almost too fast the balls roll and roll and roll vs the local 9 foot GC's at the pool hall. I'll likely try the Strachan cloth soon since I need to make a change to the pockets.
