As I am realitvley new to the pool world,
I was hoping some of you who might have had cue
work done in the past could recommend to me who
you would have make a new cue shaft for you.
I use a Meucci cue, and as we know the shafts tend to
warp, so I am looking for names/numbers of someone
who you have used that would be able to make me a new
shaft / same taper as my old Meucci, and hopefully be
able to resuse the joint ring and ferrule.
feel free to PM me if you do not want to show favortism
to one builder over the other.

Thanks
Mark

I dont know if he does this but I recently bought a Kevin Varney custom cue...he makes his own laminated shafts and I have been VERY impressed with the shaft. He posts on this board and you can send him a pm. Just search for him under member list...Varney Cues is his handle.

Since you are new to the pool world, now is a great time to try a Predator shaft. A 314-2 would be a great choice for you.

Have a predetor shaft, i hate it, new to pool world as in the Forum,
I actually used to play 20 years ago with a Meucci. so I have gotten
so used to the way they hit

I still use my Meucci quite often. I switched to the OB-1 shaft. It's not a "clunky" as a Predator. I don't know if they'll resue your rings, etc, but it can't hurt to ask. Check out http://www.obcues.com

Almarktool, time to try a different shaft. At Easypooltutor.com there is a directory page with lists of custom cuemakers in all 50 states with their phone numbers.

I think it's a safe bet to say that ALL of them make a shaft better than your Meucci. :D

However, a few custom cuemakers who I know won't make a shaft for a Meucci. So call around and find one - you'll be pleasantly surprised to stroke with a firm hard maple shaft (especially if you get one made with Grade AA maple) ;)

Hope my advice is helpful!

Which colors do you have on the rings

I can't remember where but I have seen some mucc red dot and black dot shafts for sale. I'm just headed for the office I'll look at my buddys shop he might still have some.I did by one from him for another friend couple yrs. ago for willie this kid from calf whem he was in town. give me a little bit of time . I just bought 15 new shafts 3/8 10 from the 70's all new never screwed to anything all agis II epoxy finish mint. let me look and ask

I have 3 Meucci cues. All have the Black dot shaft. All stayed perfectly straight. All play well. I must have been lucky to get the only good cues they made since the 80,s. Also lucky that I don't need their customer service according to posters here it is terrible.
I have other cues also. Several Dominiak custom cues and a Predator sp. All are very nice but I constantly find myself playing with a $300.00 Meucci power piston with a black dot shaft. It is my favorite and if something happened to the shaft I would order another black dot and hope to get a shaft similar to the ones I have now. It is the best cue for me. Unfortunately that might be a risky purchase if the quality and service is as bad as the posters here say it is.
I admit that I sometimes wonder how many have actually had a bad experience with Meucci and how many trash them because it's the "thing to do". No cue maker sells a cue shaft that can't warp. It happens.
If you like your Meucci, buy another. JMHO

I agree Kevin is a great cue builder and does great repair work . He is doing some work for me as we speak .

I also would try an ob-1 shaft (as I have one and like it). your local cuemaker can match the ringwork on the old shaft to match . You should just buy a blank from meuller's and have your cuemaker that you find do the ringwork and/or special tapering that you desire.
