New cue to come...

I've been working with several cuemakers year to date on various cues, but here's a picture I just got in email showing some rings I came up with. They are VERY challenging, as the propellers are .003 silver with copper centers inlaid. The rings between are dash/dot patterns with a copper center. Obviously this is at the joint and will scale at all positions throughout the cue.

This is just a very small piece of what this cue will be. Give me your thoughts please!! (sorry the pics aren't any clearer, I think we all know cuemakers aren't the best photographers...) :D

Looks like tony's work or possibly Gracio because Tony's pic's are usually better than the one displayed. Ron only does one ring style right now in single or double form. Not Dennis.

Very Joseyesq if you asked me.........:)

How so? Josey uses big honkin' MOP shields, these are silver/copper propellers with a twist on a barbell inbetween....

Here's a slightly clearer pic... These must be hard to photograph. The entire cue will be "at this level". :D In this picture they aren't turned to final size but you can see from looking head on that the front propeller has perfect proportions of silver/copper. Executed top notch!

I hope the cue builder can use the funds from this cue to buy a camera with a macro setting.

Very interesting "ring" design. I think I need to see it in context of the whole cue design.

The whole cue will be shown as the design progresses over the next month.

Next thing I'll show is the mitered veneered boxes for the buttsleeve. :D

BTW - those propellers are only .16" tall and .068" wide

The pics are obviously not that good, but when i look at the ring i immediatly thought Josey..... In a nice way ...:) Didnt mean to offend you just my opinion.........

hey ross looks really cool..... i think it is tony doing the work......maybe i will use these rings for my cue:thumbup:

ok, ok... here's the cue that's getting those rings. Rings will be at ABCDE (above/below wrap is ivory), ivory joint/buttcap, elephant ear wrap, and a whole lot more will be going on in the next month...

I'll keep this thread updated with pics.

nice cue ross.....i am hoping i will have some sort of pics of mine soon....sitting patiently....mickey

I know the photos suck. I took nearly 100 pictures to get the ones you saw. I think they will come out better when the finish is on the cue since there will be more of a constant shine instead of just the metal glaring.

The parts are tiny and they are a ton of work to get assembled. I have about 15 out of the 64 needed to finish the cue. Every one has to be inspected with a microscope before and after assembly because with only a .003" silver border, they sometimes break putting the copper pieces in. You wouldn't even notice it without at least a loupe.

I figure 4-5 hours per ring on this cue. That's why Ross won't see the cue until the SBE 2016. Unless of course, I take his advice and leave my wife and kids so I can spend more time on his cue.

well dont leave the family......that would cost you way to much....and a ton of misery missing those munchkins........looks great tony....

...

Fantastic cue!! Tony you're putting out some of the best ringwork i've seen this year. Setting the bar in execution with the best of them.

Ross you're a lucky guy to be getting such unique pieces. Damn now I have just one more reason to hate you more. :)
