New guy Intro

Hi all, just joined here yesterday and thought I would introduce myself. 49 yr old in Texas who is in the process of getting back into the game after about a 20 yr layoff, besides the occassional game here and there. Still have my Huebler I bought brand new when I was about 18, just had new tips put on both shafts last weekend! I was obsessed with pool, specifically 9 ball, between the ages of 17 - 29, then life got in the way and my cue did not see the light of day for the next 20 years. I was even short sighted enough back in 2000 to sell an original Szamboti cue I had owned for a few years. :( I was lucky enough to play in Dallas during my formative years, and got to see and play against players like CJ Wiley, Al Mason, Bob Vanover, and many others who dominated the game in the Dallas area during those years.

Lately I have had this overwhelming desire to start playing again, and am glad I found this forum to help me get caught up on all the latest and greatest. Hopefully I can contribute from time to time as well! Glad to be here!

a big welcome to you! i have a similar situation however i did not get the opportunity for playing such greats as you. i just got back in the game a couple of years ago after a 20 yr layoff and it has certainly been an uphill battle trying to get my game back the way it was. i don't hink that will happen, the body and eyes do not want to cooperate. but i'm close and that will have to do. some of us just have a love for the game. there are many resources here on the forum and hope you find them helpful and enjoyable. :welcome:

Welcome,

Yeah, regular life & pool life don't seem to co-exisit very well. If I had known about CJ's TOI back in the day, I might have tried going Pro & would not have my beautiful wife of 32 years & 4 'grown' children.

Enjoy the good of the site & fade the rest.

Best Wishes,

Thanks for all the welcomes! I am heading out right now for some early afternoon practice. Have to drive about 60 miles to the nearest 9 foot table, stinks to live out in the boonies. Now, if I can just convince my wife that the living room needs to be the POOL room...

Hello KLM,
Welcome to the AZB family. I am glad to have you as a member. You sound like a good guy. Playing with the pool players you mentioned in your thread, makes me think that way. I like meeting new pool players and people. I also thank you for joining the worlds pool forum, AZBilliards.

Greetings again.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

what part of texas?

Up in north TX about an hour and a half from Ft Worth. Well, yesterday I managed a 6 hour session of 14:1 and 9 ball! Man it felt good, but I am a little sore this morning!:D Just made the desire to play that much stronger.

Thanks again for all the welcomes, glad to be here!
