Hello,

Spent my youth shooting pool and haven't played much in the past 15 years. Just picked up my first table - Craigslist. Guy had an Olhausen "Americana" for $1000.
I got him to $500 and when I got it home and started assembling it - I noticed it says "Eclipse A/C" on the bottom of the frame.

Looking at the Olhausen website - this is the Eclipse... not the cheaper Americana. The name plate says "with accufast". Slate is Brazilian and is marked "97" so I assume that's how old this table is.

So for $500 and a few beers for my buddy who helped me move it... seems like a great deal. I leveled it and felted it yesterday and it plays great!

Here are a few pics... these are before I got the new felt on.

Good deal?

It's funny how so many of those Olhausen's look the same, without the legs I can't tell much difference between any of them.

$500 is probably a normal price for those models as to the true value especially for a 7' model. People list them for a grand or more but no-one buys them for close to that much.

Hope it plays good for you and glad to see the black rails were the "before picture".

To make you feel a bit worse though , I got an Olhausen 8' Gem table free ;) Was looking for a table on craigslist one day, noticed the free pool table post that was just put up 20 minutes ago, I was the first one to call the guy and managed to snag it. I did play close to the same $500 for some Simonis cloth and setup though, probably $350, which included shimming the pockets to under 4.5".

Nice table. I do hope that you enjoy it & having a table at home will make it easier to learn things repetitively at home. You might have to make adjustments when going from a home table to a commercial table, but hey , you might have to make adjustments going from table 1 at Snookers to table 6 at Joeys Saloon. It is what it is.

Good Luck & enjoy...

are you saying that a new 7' Olhausen Eclipse pool table is $500?

:sorry:

It's not a new table. I'd guess new you would be paying $2,000 for it from a dealer or so, that's about the average price for a decent home model 7' table with slate bed.

I hope I get a little better with it. I wanted a 7' since most of the places I go will have a 7'.

I've been shopping for a table for over a month now. I miss every one by a few hundred bucks. I guess they sell a little better around here. The last one was an 8' Gandy. The guy came down on it quite a bit and then the day I was going to get it - he texted me and said someone offered him more and it was sold.

I called the local billiards store an asked them about moving and setting up an Americana. They said they had one they just bought used in the store and would bring it to me for $1500. So I'm still feeling like I got a better table for a lot less.

It came with balls, practice balls, rack, bridge, cues, cue rack, and a ton of black chalk as well. Moving was pretty easy ... taking those slates downstairs though - argh.

You got a nice looking table, from a reputable US based manufacturer, in your house and playing well for $500. You did great!

Good Deal

Just think of how much more you can practice. At $5 hour table time you will have paid for it by Halloween. Not to mention that you can get a case of beer for $20 versus a bucket of 5 for $12. Paid for by Labor Day!

As long as you are happy with it that is all that matters.

$500 is a good price for a table that should give you a lifetime of enjoyment.

I believe you done real real well !!!. Olhausen is what I have chosen for my home tables for years. Our current table is Cherry Stained Santa Anna 8 -1/2. For $ 500.00, no matter the model, you scored in my book !!! Great Job !!!
