New Life for my 46th Cue

I had given this cue to my mothers husband because he never leaves the house so nobody was really going to see it. The finish was horrible and the inlays could have been better.

Anyway, he loves to give things away and he gave this to somebody who plays with him who is graduating from Cornell this weekend. I told him to get the cue back to me so I could fix it up.

Below are before and after pics of the Butt. I will do the points tonight and post them in a couple of days.

It still needs another coat of finish and a buffing, but it's coming along. I sprayed the butt seperately because the silver is very thin and I knew once I had it cut to size, I was close to being out of material at the corners, so I didn't want to have to sand it again. I was spraying some other cues, so I threw it in the booth.

There is no black, white or any kind of filler epoxy in this cue. The Inlays are Ivory, Ebony and Silver.

Obviously the newer photo is first:

Gotta say, the improvement in the design is awesome!

And thats not to say it looked bad before. But I love the little tweak! It looks great!

This isn't the cue I planned on using that design in Kenny. I was going to use it in Steve Lipsky's cue, but since I decided to fix this cue up, I went with something else in Steve's Cue.

I'm still working on the Point Inlays. I spent all night last night making the pieces. The Ebony Parts and the Ivory Framework are only .008" thick, so it took some time.

I should have them in the cue in an hour, but don't know if I'll get a photo today. The finish will need about 6-8 hours before I can handle it, so if it's not sprayed before noon, I won't spray it until late tonight.

Finished

Here are the final pictures. Just for reference, the full size of the inlays in the points is .6494" x .2598". The Ebony and Ivory Framework is .008" thick.

There is no black epoxy in the pieces. The Black is Ebony.

First hand experience

I've played with this gorgeous cue for over a month now. I am extremely proud to say that this cue resides in my hands. Tony and I redesigned the cue together in his kitchen over an amazing dinner.

Since then, I have moved back to NC where several collectors and players have meticulously inspected the cue. All reviewers rave about the detail of the inlays and the perfect veneers.

As far as play... to each his own, and I love the hit! If you get the chance to hit with a Zinzola, never pass it up.
