New low deflection shaft: Meucci Ultimate Weapon

"But-but-but Pat, you're taking all the wind out of their marketing sail!"

All funnin' aside, I laugh hysterically at some of these marketing claims. The older I get, the more I laugh at the fact-bending tactics of the "marketing droids." :D

Sounds like our polititians?

I'm with you here, Sean. I'm not opposed to marketing, because everyone has to find a way to market any product or service they have to offer. What I am opposed to is gimmicky marketing claims.

150% less deflection? Pure gimmick. Actually, to assign any kind of percentage to a reduction in deflection is gimmicky (IMO) because the conditions for measuring such are all over the board.

Mmm, think it was longer than that. Red Dots were 97' ish and only for a year or 2, then the black lams IIRC.

Even 6 or 8 years, not exactly a flash in the pan. ;)

2.) the marketing message has already FAILED, if you have to think this deep, or to analyze what "150% less than..." means.

The message failed when they used the Brand Name Meucci. That ship sailed over 2decades ago in my opinion.

Sometimes I believe certain brands should just change their name to have a chance in the market after years of decline in popularity.

What it really means is that there is a 150% chance it's just another POS from Meucci.

After too many years of Meucci giving their dealers and end customers crap treatment (how many stories on AZ alone?)... Thanks, but no thanks.

I'd rather give my money to someone like OB who has a history of standing behind their products and respecting their customers. Or Predator. Even companies with a "satisfactory" rating for customer service would be far more deserving of my dollars than Meucci.

What, like these?
1. Philip Morris became Altria
2. Anderson Consulting (the consulting/audit group responsible for the Enron fiasco) became Accenture

Ok so assuming that Meucci did or could produce the lowest deflection shaft...

In my experience Meucci players prefer lots of deflection since they are used to compensating for deflection rather then throw. So I don't see Meucci guys buying this shaft.

My question would be,how did they achieve this low deflection score? It appears to be a solid maple shaft.Did they reduce/eliminate all deflection with a scientific taper ?(not possible IMO).Is it the type of testing they do?Did Meucci start coring out their shafts and adding something inside so that they can suddenly go from the whippy-ist cue in the world to the stiff-ist?

Something like that.

AOL has kept their name and look where they are at. Though technically they changed from America Online to A.O.L.

I stand corrected, the video shows it is a laminated shaft.
