Since the Viking tour left town there hasn't been much going on in IL.
We're working on getting a bi-monthly 10 ball "tour" started in the fall of 2009. Going to shoot for a good combination of 7ft and 9ft table venues.

I'm sending this out as a feeler and to get some ideas. If you feel like you'd like to play in this, host a tournament, or just think the format could use some tweaking, please let me know.

In order to get this off the ground I'd like to get an idea of who would be showing up and if there is any interest, so just reply let us know what you think!

Here's what were thinking for the format.
$500 added based on 64 players
10 ball dbl elim.
A B C Players race to 9, 7, and 5 respectively.
Alternating break/rack your own.
Payout will be 25% of the field with just over 50% going to first.

There will be a final tournament with $1000 added garaunteed for all members of the tour. Final tournament will be
Tour card would be one time only fee roughly $25 to $30 and would include some added benefits such as discounted rates on some billiards
products through our sponsors or and at each of the pool halls that participate (i.e. discounted hourly pool rates for members is just one example).
Each tournament would be roughly a $25 entry for tour card holders ($5 greens fees included).
If you are not a tour card holder you can get into $500 added tourneys for $40 but again, only tour members can play in the final $1000 added event.

Tournaments would be held on the weekends and calcutta start times would be high noon on saturdays. 11am warm up We will try to keep the tournament to 1 day, but with a full field expect it to stretch to sunday. Our start times will be strict. So pool players, plan on being punctual for once! ;)

Player Rankings
Unknown players without identification who are just "visiting town" can plan on playing as an A. If you have ID with you and we can do a little research it may prove useful. If you are a pro or shoot at a pro level you will be an A, otherwise you are most likely a B. If you are just getting your ears wet, you will be a C. MOST players will be B players. Ranking will most likely not change, unless you are dominating the field as a C or B we can and will make adjustments for the following tournaments. We want this to be a level playing ground and we feel that ten ball is a great way to do that.

I wish I could say yes being that it is so much cooler outside than it is here right now but I don't think we'd be able to cover that kind of area right away...

I hope you are successful. Sounds like you have done a lot of thinking about the format. I can't find any fault with the thinking.

Count us in!!

HOLLLLAAALLLUUUYYYYAA!!
Shannon and I will be there, lt me know if you need any help!
If you are sending out newsletters via emails, not only do I want to sign up, but I have an adress book with over 200 pool players in it so I WILL FORWARD!!

Are you thinking of adding any incentives to woman players? IE: Lower entry fee, or prize for top woman?.. Just a thought.

Like a few others I'm guessing. What Cities are you trying to capture? What part of Illinois?

I think you could include the Carom Room in Beloit, Romine's in Milwaukee, Oshkosh has a great room as well.

Some incentives for the Ladies is a win/win for everyone.

I would also require that a person play in 2 or more events to be able to play in the finale. This helps limit the road player popping in to get qualified in 1 day.

I'd also PM Prince on AZB and get some tips from him. He and Jimmy Mendoza started up the Desert Classic Tour in Arizona just last year, so he might have some great tips for you.

I know something that really worked well for getting larger fields in the DCT was having Staggered Entry fee as well. $70 for A, $50 for B, $30 for C.

Would these tournaments cover 1 or 2 days? If 2 days, another cool incentive is to have a 2nd Chance tournament on the Sunday for all the players that finished out of the money.

You going to run Calcutta's for these events?

Good Luck! I love to support anyone that is trying to help the sport grow!!

Jacqui, there would be a lower entry for women.
You can however let shannon know he would probably end up being an "A" player so he will have to give up some weight...2 games on the wire to a "B" and 4 games to a "C". You would be grouped in the "B" category just in case you were wondering...

There will be calcuttas if there is an interest of course...which I don't know why there wouldn't be.

As far as what area of Illinois, northcentral Illinois I guess you could say. I have already got the Rockford Billiard Cafe and Hammerheads in west dundee on board. I plan on speaking with Dave at the Carom Room, Main St Billiards in Algonquin, Quentin Corner Pocket in palatine, possibly Diamond Billiards in Schaumburg (not sure whats going on with them lately...last time i checked they were under remodeling and new management), State & Madison in Rockford (their equipment may not be up to par), Ride the Nine is a little south but not out of the question.

I would like to get this off the ground in a relatively centrally located area so that nobody is driving more than 2 hours or so (that is unless the REALLY want to ;)) Players from Chicago can make it to beloit in 1.5 hours and vice versa.

If these stretched to a second day, I would certainly like to have a second chance tournament or mini tournament if you will.

Thank you for all of the feedback guys keep it coming and if you know of anyone out there that is looking to be involved as sponsors or hosting locations again, please let me know!

For those of you who are truly interested please pm me your contact information or email it to jbravo2984@hotmail.com

Working on getting a title sponsor right now. We have a couple company's/cuemakers that are interested and waiting for their bids.

B... I think. Allthough some poeple seem to think very highly of you and that might be a mistake. I guess we'll have to see:smile:

Count me and my son in! He is only 7 and just starting to play so I'm going to take him to as many tournaments as I can.

That is right about where I figured us to be... I mean... wait "YOU MEAN SHANNON CANT SNEAK IN AS A "C" Player???!!" - lol, Just Jokin!!

Hey, Have you talked to the Pyramid Club in Addison, Or Palace Billiards in Villa Park? How about RedShoes? Shark city in Bloomingdale and QBilliards in Darien are both owned by Bob Taft and would be good spots for Bar Box events.. Let me know if you need some more, lol

Keep it Up I can't wait!!
Cya soon

Romine's in South Milwaukee is only 1.5 hrs from Chicago as well. They have 50+ tables of all sizes and shapes.
