new Moori Mediums ???

i had a moori medium tip put on my playing cue about 2 years ago and lasted 6 months or so. would have lasted a lot longer if i wouldnt have widdled away at it so much. anyway i remember it being so soft compared to a lepro and i basically couldnt miscue. it was awsome and i could get so much english when needed. it was a soft, dull thud when i shot. anyway i bought 2 Moori Medium III's off ebay, neilsonsbilliards so i know they are legit mooris. they were in the little moori bubble package with the correct stamp on the tip. these tips are sooo hard compared to the moori i remember. its more of a tink than before. is it because they are III generation tips? what happened here? is it me or are these tips a lot harder than they used to be? also i have one more Moori Medium III still in its packaging if anyone wants to trade,

Not with Moori's but with Hercules. I put a Hercules medium on my cue several years back and loved it. Ordered some more but recieved the H2's. Hated them from the start. Unlike your Moori's the H2's were way too soft. I ordered 10 of them and still have 4 or 5 left. I sold them to some friends who like a softer tip as they played alot with elkmaster's.
 
How long have you been playing with the tip? I put a new moori on a while ago and was shocked at how hard it hit. After a short while it became "normal" with that dull thud you mentioned. I was actually disappointed when the click went away, it was a nice bit of feedback.
 
The Moori IV's seem to play a little softer than the III's. At least, that has been my experience so far.

i had the tip put on 2 weeks ago and it seems harder now than then. never knew they had a IV generation one. maybe ill try a tiger soft or something like that if i cant get used to this one in a week or 2, still have one if someone wants to trade,

The new Moori's are harder then the old ones. The new ones are 9 layers in the plastic packages and the old ones were all 11 layers. So what most players are doing are changing to the Moori soft the play like the mediums did in the past. Take a look in the ask the cuemaker section there are 2-3 pages on the new Moori's being to hard.....

I play with the Moori III Slow or Soft tips and to me they play like a medium tip. I really like these tips and maybe you should try a soft Moori before you give up on them.

Heh. Funny. I wanted to switch to a Moori IV Hard to get what I was used to with the Moori III Medium. Fortunately, I got my hands on a few extra medium III's.
 
I, too, played with the II's for about 2 years and loved them. I went to buy more at Valley Forge and could only find the new III's in the bubble pack. The man selling them told me that they are playing harder. He said the medium were playing medium hard. The soft should play soft-medium. I do not like the medium III's. They feel hard and I miscue a lot. I cannot not find III's in soft. Nobody has them in stock. I thought the III's were the newest generation. Is there now a fourth generation moori? I get the tips put on for free, but I have to buy them and this is getting expensive to keep playing around.
