New OB CUE

I picked up a new ob cue with 13 1/4 mm shaft Monday. I played about 3
hours with it today. As I like a larger shaft I thought I would get it a try.
I got the plain cue with brown stain and black wrap. The handle is a little
smaller than I like so I will rewrap it and make it a little larger. This cue
with the larger shaft has a firmer hit than the ob-1 I had before, It also
seems to have better feedback and feel. It is very solid no matter how
you hit the cb. Knowing that it will not make a click or ping seems to help
me stay down on the ball. I played the ghost some 9 ball and got used to
the cue. It is easy to move the cb around and was easier to control than
314 or ob-1. I guess because of the larger mass. I played a little straight
pool and after a little adjustment ran 73. That won't win the U.S. open
but I was happy with it since I just got the cue. To sum it up this is a
very good playing cue with a super solid hit. The sound a cue makes on
off center hits is a very big deal to me and this cue with this shaft is
great.

where'd you get an ob shaft with a 13.25mm tip? i thought only the break cues were bigger and even those are only 13mm?

Yes, we do have a version of the OB-1 called the OB-XL.

Our XL is 13.25mm at the tip, but it still retains the low cue ball squirt, or deflection, properties of all our cue shafts.

They do play very well, as Jack attests.

Here is a look at what Jack bought. His actual cue is not in the picture, but these are some of the same model we have in stock.

white light joint

Royce,
Forgive me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, but I seem to recall a post that I thought was from you in a thread I cannot find that shows a picture of a "white light joint". Again, sorry if I'm confused, but if it is something that you've discussed can you expound on this joint?
Thanks,
KII

That thread is in the Wanted For Sale forum. Here is a link

Someone was interested in what John Schmidt payed with.

The White Light joint is new. We have just built a few of our wrapless Curly maple cues with it.

The joint is made from a white thermoplastic that is very light in weight as compared to other materials. Our purpose in reducing weight in the joint is to provide an alternative to the hit our cues have now with steel joints. The cues do play well, but we realize there are many players who like the "wood to wood" type of hit. The light weight gives us that hit.

I am playing with one now, and it hits fantastic!

We will be incorporating this into our other models as well.

Here are a couple of pics of the new joint, and the cue it is in right now.

oops!

I hit the submit button before adding the pics!

Here they are.

Looks like OB's white light wrapless is going to go head to head against Predator's QR series. That's a pretty nice match up

Mamono,

Thanks!

Yes, we do have some cues with some really nice woods right now.

I have this model with the White Light joint as well as with a steel joint.

I also have this same cue with a wrap, stained either brown or gray, with a steel joint.

All of these come with either the OB-1 or OB-2 cue shaft. You could also get the Break Shaft if you wanted for the same price.

The list price is $550.00, like I said with your choice of shaft.

Right now you can get any of them for $440.00!

Hi Royce,

i sent you a PN some days ago (with a little review after receiving my ob-shaft). It would interest me what the shipment would cost if you would deliver to germany. I ll check pn later these days :p

have a nice xmas and a good new year,

Ingo

edit: i meant the cue for 440 $ with a ob-2 shaft with 3/8-10 pin/joint

Ratta,

I sent you a pm with the shipping price.

However, I just noticed that your post asked for 3/8x10 joint. The problem is that the cue is 5/16x14. The weight difference between the 2 joints is very small, so they would play very similar.

I could build one with the 3/8x10, but it would take some time.

Thanks

I got the grey version a few days ago and I love it. I highly recommend it at this price.

Royce, a few online retailers list them as OB Cue by Joss. Are they really made by Joss?

SVD,

Yes, the handles are made for us by Joss. They build them to our build specs, and we put the shafts on them.

Glad you like the new cue! They do hit good!

For those who don't particularly care for the hit of a steel joint, I promise you would like the new White Light joint. It does have the 5/16x14 pin, but you would never know it!

Yeah, mine hits very well! It think it really complements my 12.25mm ob-1. Thanks!!
