A customer has asked me to replace the wooden OB ferrule with a 1" plastic one. He is aware that the warranty will be voided & doesn't care. Is there anything I should look out for? I'll take any help I can get, to avoid problems...JER

If it is just the look they don't like you could take it down to like 3/8 and fit the new ferrule. I am guessing the ferrule that is on there is on a tenon of 5/16. What do you see when you take off the tip? Although there is no need to guess, the guy who made it will chime in soon I am sure.

It has a thin walled wooden ferrule on a tenon that measures .360" in diameter. In the center of that is a .250" diameter hole, filled with foam of some kind...JER

You have to make a thin walled ferrule , because of the hole drilled inside like a predator , capped ferrule of course ... Some of the players didn't like the soft hit and changed the ferrule out to LBM and some with aegis , now the hit is too hard ... Good luck with a gimmick shaft ...

Oh, like a Predator. Sounds like the outcome may be unpredictable as far as the hit. I hope the customer is open minded and won't hold you accountable if they don't like it afterward.

Have the customer send his shaft back to OB cues and have it exchanged with the new OB shaft called the classic, it has the same hit as the original OB shaft but has a white ferrule. Royce and everyone else in the shop are very helpful.

if he dosent like the wood ferrule

you might try what i did. i just cut the ferrule off, used a carbon fiber pad and attached the tip. no ferrule [ yes it voids the warranty ] but i really like the way it plays. i have only been using it on my practice table for about 2 months and so far no problems.
if i was going to use a laminated shaft on my regular player, this is the way i would go.
