NEW RELEASE from TAR Video On Demand: TAR #1 Corey Deuel vs Shane VanBoening. The very first TAR match. It was a race to 100, ten ball for $10,000 per man. Commentators were the great Grady Mathews and Billy Incardona. Close to sixteen hours of action. Price is $15 for the whole match which you can stream for up to a year. You can also download the source files to keep. https://vimeo.com/ondemand/tar1

This is the match that put Shane in the spotlight! The commentating was great as it would be with Billy and Grady. The quality on DVD is great so I'm sure the VOD is going to be great too.

Thanks, even a straight pool lover like me can't resist the ability to download the match!

I'm in, if I figure out how:).

Thanks again!

Great match. Have it on DVD, i think 8 DVD's in the box. One of my favorite matches to watch!

Thanks Justin!

just ordered it

Going to have to get this so I can watch it on the big screen. The beginning of an era. Pool history at it's finest.

Thanks for putting this up Justin.

That's a good one too. There's a part when Shane decides to start breaking like Shane, he gets his break cue out. I think Corey is commentating. He says something like, "Is that his break cue he's getting out. Yup, he's gonna FRAM'em" The way he says it cracks me up every time.

That match made me wish Donny would play more. Kid shoots straight as heck!

Theres a backstory behind Shane switching to the hard break.

At that point int he match, SVB was down something like 46 to 62 and getting mixed results from his soft break. Meanwhile, Donny was racking and cut breaking like a friggin cyborg, making the wing ball EVERY SINGLE BREAK. At this point, Big Nasty texts SVB and sez "You are a US Open champ, start *breaking* like one".

That was the single biggest turning point for Shane. The next rack, he breaks em Shane-style and starts putting packages together.

If Shane nvr went to the hard break, I don't think he was gonna win that match. Shane agreed.

BTW, Donny broke the wing ball in 83 outta 84 times. Yep, you heard right.

That's funny! I never new that. Pretty cool story, I'll have to watch for when he looks at his phone my DVD now.

Some of the best commentating I ever heard on that match :)

If your opponent is up 10-15 games on you in a set, and makes the wing ball 83/84 times, and you win, that's pretty strong.

Thanks for uploading.

Good match, I'm watching it now. I had watched the live stream in 2007. Was the camera at the other end of the table from what is shown on the Vimeo on-demand stream? I vaguely recall the players were turning the score cards, and I don't see them now.

I also thought Corey was using his super soft break, but he's using his medium speed break. I'm only 1.5 hrs in, so I could be remembering wrong, or he switches to his softer one later in the match.

The video quality is actually quite good. Only slight issue is a lot of breathing sounds coming in through the mic, not from Billy or Grady. Maybe they will clear up later in the match.

You guys did great for a first effort. Good to see how it started.

I'd like to see a Corey Shane rematch. We now know Shane is a big favorite, but I think Corey is still a strong opponent for Shane. An all-around would be best, imo.

Maybe do it on a nice round number TAR match as an anniversary, like TAR 40 or TAR 50.

Thank you.

Man I've been watching this throughout the day. Corey has come back from being down 11 to 30-28, 2 games down. I keep rooting for him even though I already saw the match 6 years ago! lol.

Video quality is great, and audio improved since my last post. Great match, highly recommend.

I'm watching it on my big screen via Vimeo on Apple TV. Even the rewind works great for just a few seconds to replay a shot. This is way better than DVD's.

Quick thread derail: I believe the final score was Shane 100 to Donny 83 or so correct? Does anyone know how many games Donny won that Shane broke? Its not possible that Donny only won on his break so I'm curious as to how many of the games that he made a ball on the break did he actually lose? Just curious. Thanks.

I watched this one live too. Donny lost cause he couldn't get out after his perfect break as often as Shane was. The patterns after Donny's break were all very similar.

When Shane switched to his hard break, he was just blasting them. I don't think he was even pattern racking at this point. Balls were random all over the table. He was also making a lot more than 1 ball on the break, so he had usually 6 or 7 balls to run after he started blasting them.

Donny's soft break I believe was only making 1 ball, so he had to run 8 after his break, but as said earlier, the 8 were routinely in the same position on the table most games.
