I assume they will be reserving it for One Pocket so it won't suffer from the spot/rack wear issues that are common with heavy 8 or 9 Ball use.

These issues can cause slow rolling balls in the rack area to roll off or roll funny. In a game as intricate as One Pocket this can mean the difference between a perfect safety and selling out. (Of course this also would apply to Straigt Pool too.)

Plus the One Pocket players like a nice quiet, sedate environment to lose their money in!
 
Questions

Why just one pocket? We needed a new one pocket table that was tight and I wanted a table that would actually be taken care of. Once you put a table in the general population of bangers and 9 ball players it gets beat to sh1t. We converted our old one pocket table for everyday use so people practice 9 ball on that one now. No dinner or laundry will be allowed on the table. We did not purchase the Diamond light. Our lights were custom made in the 80s with stain glass and 4 - 8 foot bulbs. So they are very bright. Thanks to Paul from Diamond and his son for delivering and setting it up for us a couple weeks back. Wish I could afford to put in more of them.
 
Thats a very nice table you have there! I bet your one pocket/straight pool customers will appreciate having a dedicated table for their game. Bet it also helps retain some loyal business by giving them their own table.

By buddies pool hall in Atlanta back around 2000, had a dedicated table as well. It was one of the nicer Gandy's with triple shims, 860 felt and some fast action rails. Also had a dedicated set of super aramith pro balls on just this table. It was used for all games, but only a hand full of players were allowed to rent it and there was no surcharge. When he relocated, he ask the hand full of players how we wanted it reconfigured. We thought that was really cool. Having a house table is common, but having a dedicated table for a certain game or customers is a nice touch!

Looks nice. The other diamond was my favorite table to play on in your place. Any chance you will move cue and cushion to Columbia, MO any time soon?

Only if we can find free rent like we enjoy now. Its the only reason we are still in business. Without our building being paid off we would have closed the billiard parlor most likely a very long time ago. Probably just go all retail. Just a hunch on that. Considering the typical rent in our part of town exceeds our billiard parlors gross revenue. Thank you for the compliment Al. I hear Columbia is void of decent rooms currently.

I understand that somebody just opened a place East of town, outside of the city limits to get away from the no smoking regulation but I haven't been there. The guy who bought the tables from Columbia Billiards is going to open a place but I don't know any details. I've mostly been playing at home.

From the category of how not to run a poolroom, there is a place in town which I won't name that has a bar and grill and some 9' Olhausen tables. I dropped in one day and asked what they charged for table time and they told me it is free from 11 am to 3 pm if you buy lunch. A week or so later I went there, bought lunch for $7 and hit some balls. When I checked the balls in at 3 they charged me another $8 for table time. I'm not too cheap to pay for table time but that wasn't the deal. At least they didn't steal my cues.
