Old number was 67 about 20 years ago.
New number is 87 last tuesday. I missed a secondary break shot that opened up the last 8 balls that could have easily gotten me to 95.
must learn to walk before we can run.
with all I have learned in the last couple of years I have compiled a top 6 list for straight pool.
hear it is.
6: Don't get straight in on shots by accident, especially behind the rack.
5: Don't get too big an angle.
4: Get good break shots and hit it good. The racks are much easier if the balls are spread well.
3: There is no need to break them up all at once. Just opening up a couple of balls could be all you need to break them up better. I know this is a contradiction to #3, but good break shots could be hard to come by.
2: I know I can pocket any ball on the table. What I now realize is I can also miss any ball on the table. therefore, Don't miss. enough said.
and the number 1 top rule on my list for straight pool:
Have a clear mind. You cannot be thinking about work or family or the next mortgage payment. just pool. For me this is completely out of my control.
Sometimes I can think well. Other times I can forget about it.
If anyone would like to add to the list please do so. I know there is lots more.
