Because I voice my opinion or thoughts about something....that makes me an "Idiot"? Your first post in almost 3 years...and it's to call me an idiot?...wow

Honestly Glen, since you asked, it doesn't make you an idiot. Everyone knows you are a real smart guy when it comes to pool tables. But you are a real abrasive individual and a relentless bully on everything pool table related. You are mean but not an idiot.

Well thank you sir, at least SOMEONE knows me for sure:grin:

I may be a lot of things, but I'm NO idiot or fool, I've been around this industry working on pool tables, working in bars, working in pool rooms besides owning them for about the last 29 years, and playing pool for more than 45 years...so I've seen a lot in my time. I've seen a lot of pool rooms open and close in my lifetime...I care, to a fault...that's all:smile:

Just a suggestion to the OP....

The internet is permanent. (Sort of.)

Do you realize that when looking up your establishment on Google, this thread on AZB is the 6th response? After only a couple of days...

You may feel the need to "defend" yourself and your establishment here on the forums, but perhaps you might want to think about exactly how you are presenting yourself when you make statements here. People can easily be directed to this thread from Google. Would you speak the same way to a TV or newspaper reporter? Probably not, I hope.

I'm not saying you are right or you are wrong. What I am saying is that you seem to think that the way you treat people in person at your business can be different than how you react here online. And in that, I believe you are mistaken.

Good luck with your business, I hope you are successful.

i respect your opinion thanks. but how i treat my customers is far different than how i treat people who have nothing to say except negative things against myself or pool as a whole. Because the last i looked being an ok table mechanic does not make someone an expert on pool, nor does it give them the right to tell another how to run a business. because apparently being a table mechanic does not keep a pool room open as you can see , since mr pioneer has no pool rooms anymore. I wonder why:rolleyes:

You're not getting it. What justadub is trying to tell you, is that *your* distinction between how you treat customers, and how you treat people who say negative things, is INVISIBLE on the Internet. People looking up your pool room won't see this distinction. They'll just see that negative side of you that you publicly displayed. And it won't come off well, trust me.

They won't say, "oh, he's just responding to some negativity in the thread." Nope, Google won't turn that up. They'll instead just see your attitude displayed in all its glory, and come away with the wrong impression.

As a business owner, you have to behave differently than a customer who just visits your room. Your online persona is visible, and people will see it. The persona of the average customer who visits your room is not. The Internet is the reason why.

You may be justified in how you respond to people who display negativity towards you. That's not the point. The fact that you are a business owner is.

That's the distinction. I hope this helps explain it a bit better.

Sean pretty much summed it up, but let me add a little more.

What Glen says or does here doesn't affect him much, in his business. At this point in time, he's probably got more work than he can handle. You, on the other hand, are trying to attract customers to a new business. How you react to anyone PUBLICLY can and will affect your business.

I'm not saying you are wrong in your disagreement with Glen. What I'm saying is the way you are responding doesn't show you in a positive light. Again, I ask you, would you respond the same way to a TV crew or newspaper reporter? I think most folks running a business would say no.

Sometimes we have to take the high road in how we respond, in person and on the internet. Especially when we represent someone or something else. Read any post by Mark Griffin here online. He is a great example on how to present ones business online. I am quite sure he has many opinions, as strong or stronger than yours, on a number of subjects. Yet he handles these issues here online very gracefully, never letting his business look worse as a result.

Just my .02, take it for what its worth. I'm suggesting it because I am hoping you do well, not simply to take pot shots at you. I do wish you well, and good luck.

Wow, you sure do have what it takes to own a pool room buddy, maybe I should have SOLD my pool rooms to someone like you. I didn't want the pool room babysitting job anymore...there's more to life than owning a pool room. Maybe as you get a little older, you'll come to understand that. And if you think I'm just an OK table mechanic...you still have a lot to learn.

There's 2 reasons pool room go out of business, (1) they didn't do enough to stay IN business, and (2) they go OUT of business because of how they RUN their pool room with the public! Lets just wait and see if you make it where you're at now...as I recall, the last pool room owner in the location where you're at....didn't stay in business either....I wonder why?....Are you better...or worse...than the LAST owner?;) Right now, you're not doing to well to represent yourself.

IF you really wanted to respond to me the right way...it would have been along the lines of..."Glen, you're right about opening a pool room with worn out old GC's....so that's why we had Bob De turk completely fix up the GC2's that we did open with, and as you already know, Bob can really make a GC play super...so we got that covered"....and you know what?...I'd have agreed with you 100% and told you...you're off to a great start...wish you the best of luck, and I wish more room owners would pay that kind of attention to the GC's they have in their room and bring them up to today's standards of play.

Premium Billiards in Syracuse, NY opened with 12 rebuilt GC3's by Mark Gregory and Bob & Pat....yet there was never any kind of conversation like this going on in their tread about opening....maybe you should look it up sometime....you might just learn something from Premium Billiards;)

Truth, guys.

Regardless of whether right or wrong exists, or if one falls on either side, snapping at another puts light on an aspect of an individual's personality that exists and that many would rather steer clear of.

Kind of like a few top level pool players that can't get played coz of their poor attitudes. People just don't want to invite hassle.

*Just noticed they both used snake references in their usernames. Whodathunkit?

Thank you sean, and i will take that to heart . and i oppreciate your concern. I will try and tone down my response to negative people , as i would not want that to be what i am known for , because i am not that person. and i would not want my room to be displayed as that. thanks for the imput.

Man, I don't know phillyviper personally but I don't agree with how some are acting like he is out of line for pushing back with RKC. RKC was rude in how he made his very first post. But I don't think he can see it. RKC will someday learn it's better to keep certain comments to yourself regardless if you have strong feelings one way or the other.

RKC is a good guy but he has a track record of getting under people's skin. RKC "pool table baited" him which caused viper to go on the defensive and react and lash out. He got under viper's skin by criticizing his new pool room. Now you guys are turning the table on him like RKC is some Holy pool saint or something.

I got (16) GC-1's in storage. If I ever open a pool room I will use these tables.

Don't sweat it viper. Congrats and good luck with your pool room.

Are you NOT aware of the fact that I rebuilt 8 out of 11 GC1's & 2's at Malarkey's Pool & Brew in Tacoma, WA in order to help Clark stay on his feet in his pool room? You really think I'm against pool rooms having GC's? I'll clear this up for you OK...I'm against pool rooms charging customers to play pool on junk shit...like GC1's that are old, worn out...pieces of shit, and Diamond tables as well...if they're in the same condition for that matter!! So, you can do what ever your money allows you to do...I don't really care what you do, the customers will let you know what they think of your pool tables if you open a room full of junk!
