New Predator 'Arc' table.....................

They either have: A. A lot of really good players or B. They like to brag about how tough their tables are. I'm leaning more towards 'B'. I just don't see a commercial room having a room full of crazy tight tables. A couple sure but not all of them. 700+FR pros will struggle on 4" wickets, joe public will not make a ball on one. China either has a bunch of monster players or they just like torturing themselves and bragging about their tough tables.
Chinese still have ties to their aristocratic past. Ultra refined physical ability seems to be a thing there; kung fu, acrobatics, ping pong etc... Someone said the Chinese invented organized crime. Doesn't surprise me.

WTF????? 'aristocratic past'????? what does that even mean in regards to playing games sports? i'm not going for any bs about Chinese players being that good as to have a room full of tight tables. i bet most of the players just beat the shit out of the rails like every other room with tight pocket tables. I'm still wrapping my around how you went from aristocratic past to kung fu/ping pong to organized crime. fkng Gumby can't stretch that far. props bro.

Haven't been there, can't speak to it. I can speak to the high level of accomplishment countries with an imperial past have achieved. History is full of that stuff and that's all I'm referring to. Sports without evolution is for scrubs.

You guys are all nuts. Probably run a rack once per week, and want 4" pockets.

4.5" Pro-Cut on a 9' Diamond are hard as hell, especially when the cloth is 6 months old. Nothing should be tighter than that. They are harder than triple shimmed GC's were (due to the shelf).

Rooms should be all 5" pockets, IMO. One or 2 tables in the front for the one-hole and the room's top 9 ball players could be a Pro-Cut Diamond, or equivalent.
I agree. My friend has 4 inch pockets but he also plays in matchroom events. It’s brutal. Let that shit to the pro’s lol

What looks tacky, is the giant Predator logos down the side. Absolutely disgusting and a deal breaker for me as a home table. Never ever would be in my house.
You know I’m a big predator fan but I agree . A commercial setting yeah.. a tournament Setting sure.. but if you have a nice classy looking home pool room it looks tacky.

Not a fan of the big logo. Yet I would buy one if the cost were similar to a Diamond and the table played like an upgraded Gold Crown 4 and didn't bank short.

Need more industry competition and readier availability. A

Anyone hear about pricing?

To me it's the same with some of the Gold Crowns also with some of their lettering, just putrid in a home environment. I just don't understand some of those Gold Crown refurbishes where they then put those hideous decals on. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I'm guessing here....

I think this table might have been designed (aesethitcally) by Yalin. It looks like it has Eastern influences to me.

You have a valid concern but with NC tooling slate, cloth, and pockets can all be cut to any pattern. A few minutes one time by a draftsman could give pockets in as many choices as people wanted.

What I want is leather pockets though. Heavy saddle leather preferred. There is just something about the sound of the slap of balls into heavy leather.

I dunno, just my thoughts.

That's true, the only downside is that all tables would have to be factory direct, no going to your local shop and picking one out of inventory unless you are lucky I guess and they have the pocket size you want. That also could mean higher shipping prices to customers depending on the location of each party.

You are right. I think most tables would still have just a few standard pocket sizes. Those wanting special sizes would need to special order. Few dealers could stock tables in every pocket width. I think the vast majority of customers would be best served with four and a half or four and three-quarter pockets. While many think they want tight tables I think widespread sales of tight tables will just speed up how fast they become laundry tables.

I was just in a weekly handicapped 9 ball tourneamt in Atlanta last night. Open to anyone. The room has about 45 tables. A mix of 9' and 8' GC, all with the factory 5" pockets. The tournament was played on the 9'. I saw maybe 1 or 2 break and runs.

They have 2 9' Diamonds with pro-cut pockets, that had one pocket games going the whole night.

That's how a room should be setup, imo. People having FUN making balls! And a couple tables for the specialty players.

Place was packed, btw.

In the old days of GC's only with mostly 5" pockets, it was RARE to see a local player run a package, same as it is today.

You and I are probably the only sub-600 players on this forum.

No doubt some with vivid imaginations but some very good players also. There are or were some top instructors, most using handles. Likewise, some pro's choose to remain anonymous and join in conversations as just another player. The great Ray Martin posts on occasion too. It can be funny when somebody who has never strung two racks is telling the experts how things are done!
