I didn’t see a thread for new rooms but I wanted to let folks know we have a new room to play in. Located in Brick, NJ, Sticks and Stones Billiards, features 11 new 9’ Diamond Tables, two 8’ Diamonds, four 7’ Diamonds and a billiard or carom table (I don’t know the difference since I don’t play)

Owned by Jersey Mars, this is a great new place to play, very clean, and well setup. If you are in the area or passing through check it out!

The place is alright. I've played there a few times. It's local to me.

I really can't stand the way that they charge people for time. If you are there for 61 minutes they are charging you for a full two hours. You play 30 minutes they are charging you for a full hour.

If you wanna play from 12-6 i mean they will give you a $20 rate, But i have a family now and no way am i able to get out of the house for 6 hours.

should break the cost down by the minute. Getting hit for an hour for one minute is bullshit.

Everyone who never own a business is a business expert.

In 2025 running any small business in Black Ink is tough.

Most small business fail in first year of operation.

Remember meeting Ken who own Hard Times in Bellflower. We talked about own they Gold Mine.

Learn the truth from Ken, it was no Gild Mine.

I used to live in Brick and played at the Ballroom on route 9 back in the '80's.
But in 1991 on a moonless dark night I slipped under the wire and escaped to Colorado.

Ken or Chuck couldn’t get a liquor license or even a food license from the City, that room was doomed from day one. It’s a mirical it lasted As long as it did, remember Chuck opened it and sold it after just a couple years

I’m sure it would be better if it free but there is a one hour minimum and after that it’s by the minute.

New Jersey is a difficult place to do business for a pool room. Liquor licenses are prohibitively expensive if they are even available. It is definitely a different business model in this state as compared to most of the country.

Cowboy was talking about Hardtimes Bellflower, which was a tremendous room. I went there a zillion times from when it open until it closed.

Ca is like NJ for biz, it’s a difficult place for sure. And they both like to collect taxes😅

I hope the room works out. If there’s a model that works without alcohol that’s perfect.

It’s still possible to an open room in a few places. I’m too lazy to make that happen at this point in my life, but for those who can-they have my respect 🫡

so a room full of brand new equipment(wont mention they are diamonds) clean as a whistle is "alright" ? last nice room in brick wasn't in brick... something sounds fishy here

Sounds like you and the OP are the owners and can't take criticism.

I am not the owner and no have financial interest in the place. It’s just a really nice, clean place and I thought people in the area or planning to visit the area would like to check it out. Unfortunately you sound like a typical broke ass pool player who wants everything for free and complains even when it is.

Very inaccurate information! If you play for 61 minutes, you get charged for 61 minutes only. It is a minimum of 1 hour than after the hour the computer calculates by the minute.

Sierra Billiards hosted its Inaugural Holiday Celebration and it was a fun time.
It opened in May 2023 & now has the largest liquor selection in the Central Valley.

I will admit the DJ playing outside was a little louder than I’d have preferred.
It kicked off with the sun low in the sky & ended on time because of permits.

Ok, that makes total sense. Thanks

There will be more poolrooms opening in lots of places. Pool is on a resurgence! Big time here in the Philippines. Three new rooms, all with good equipment within minutes of our home here. I posted more about it on the 832 thread.

When I lived in central nj there must have been close to a dozen pool rooms nearby. Elite in Milltown,Paradice in Somerset.Edison,QZone and B&L in Edison. Sandcastle in metuchen, once in a while I would take a drive across the river to Prime time. Not to mention every bar around had a table or two and ran some type of league. I retired and moved to tuckerton south jersey and if I wanted to shoot pool would have to go to AC billiards 20 miles away

With all the growth in that area sounds like an opportunity.
