Hello,

Been lurking here for a while and figured I should introduce myself.

I recently got back into playing pool after a 20 year break. We had a table when I was growing up which really didn't get used a lot. When I moved out for college and into a house instead of the dorms my parents couldn't wait to send the table with me.

Over the next five years that table got used and abused by a lot of college students and I actually turned into a pretty good player. When I moved out after graduation I didn't have the heart to take the table with me and disappoint my brothers so I left it behind in the house.

Changed jobs last fall and I work for a software company with a table in the break room. I have been playing almost every day since then. I complained to my wife a few times about the warped cues so she went out and bought me a cheap Scorpion cue for Christmas. Nothing special about it (AR06 - Johnny Archer) but it is a lot better than the ones at work.

I feel like I am just starting to get my shooting skills back but no doubt I have a long way to go.

It's just like riding a wife...er...bike... Once you find your rythm, you'll be back to your a-game in no time.

Welcome to the addiction! LOL:rolleyes:

Welcome aboard PegLeg!

There's a guy at my local PH who has just gotten back into the game after 45 years off! He's a pretty quiet, modest guy and has been improving each week. Last week we must've played about 20 racks before league and he broke & ran 3 consecutive racks of 8 ball against me. I told him if he'd kept playing years ago he'd have been a nightmare to play.

So 20 years ain't too bad. Ha, I used to think my 12 year break was a long time!

Enjoy the site & its many great members.

Welcome PegLeg!

Your story is very similar to mine: I used to play a fair bit but then took a 20 year break (although I did play snooker for the first 10 of those). Then they put in a table at work and I got back into it. That was about 3 years ago, and I am absolutely loving it! Wife is not wild about it though - not started buying me cues yet ...:frown:

Don't worry - your game will come back. I spent a lot of time during the first year working on fundamentals and unlearning some bad habits. Time well spent since I am now playing better than ever. Hope the same happens to you.

Have fun!:)
