new "Top 10 Pool Shots Every Player Must Know!!!" video

If I had that kind of cash, I'd use it to fund the health effects of removing grains, legumes, and dairy from the human diet:)
Sorry, but that is out of my area of expertise and interest (I love eating all of those things, along with lots of "unhealthy" meat).

Dave

I've put together a tentative list of shots for BU Exam III (Advanced Challenge Shots), and I am hoping to get input from you guys. Please suggest other shots to include and let me know if you dislike any of the shots already listed. I looked at a bunch of safety shot options, but they didn't seem to belong with the other shots on the list (because anybody can execute them with a little practice).

Thanks,
Dave

I was hoping to get some feedback or suggestions before I put in the hard work to create all of the diagrams (and maybe create and post a demo video).

Does anybody have any "favorite shots" that might be good suggestions? You can post descriptions, diagrams, or video links.

What do you guys think about the style or difficulty level of shots on the list already?

Thanks,
Dave

FYI, I just uploaded a new YouTube video demonstrating the top 10 shot types that every pool player must know and master (all in 10 minutes). Here it is:

NV J.10 - Top 10 Pool Shots Every Player Must Know!!!

Here's the list of shot categories covered in the video:
1. Accurate/consistent/reliable/controlled stun/follow/draw
2. English shots
3. Rail cut shots
4. Throw shots
5. Drag shots
6. Carom/kiss shots
7. Kick shots
8. Bank shots
9. Jump shots
10. Massé shots

As with the BU Playing Ability Exams, all of the shots in this video are useful to practice as a playing ability test (1 point for each shot) or or as a pool workout. Maybe I'll use this collection of shots to create BU Exam III - Pool Workout Test (with a diagram for every shot). What do you think?

Enjoy,
Dave
You basically summed up every single shot in pool and made them into 10 categories. This video isn't 10 shots, its ten thousand shots.

Good video, I like that it is really broad and leaves you thinking "Where can I find out how to make these (Only) 10 Shots (hehehe) then BAM!!!! Psst hey! Here's some instructional materials.

Keep up the good work!

I tried to make the "marketing" at the end as "subtle" as possible, but you're right ... BAM!

Thanks for the feedback,
Dave

PS: Do you have any input on the proposed list of shots for BU Exam III (see above)?

PS: Do you have any input on the proposed list of shots for BU Exam III (see above)?

My favorite difficult shot right now, is a cut...maybe cueball on the spot, object ball two inches out from the first diamond on the end rail... large angle, but you hit it with draw but instead of following through with your stroke you jab it at slow speed with maximum draw maybe following through half an inch and the shot slows way down and keeps you within a few inches of the bottom rail for a slight back cut on a ball into the other corner pocket on that same side of the table. This would all make much more sense if I had the ability to draw it out (HAHA).

Not sure what it is called...maybe a drag shot...but it gets more and more difficult with the steeper angle, or longer the distance. I call it a wide angle kill shot...but people look at me like I am mentally handicapped when I call it that, till I show em how to do it.

Do you have an “impossible” cut shot with the object ball frozen to a rail - maybe 12?

A circular draw shot is a tough stroke shot.

You already have a lot of spot shots but I like the one where the cue ball can’t touch a rail.

I would consider my signature shot for determining a shaft's cue ball squirt.

Object ball frozen to foot rail on middle diamond. Cue ball on head string 2 1/4" to the left or right of center of the table (one ball distance off the center of the table on the head string). Using maximum side spin, cut object ball into right or left corner pocket.

Back to business.

Anybody have any shot suggestions or feedback on the list?

Thanks,
Dave

One more, the Steve Mizerak Miller Beer Commercial trick shot where there are two object balls in far corner pockets. Cue ball in hand behind the head string. Make both balls in one shot.

Ok one more. Two balls frozen behind one another on the foot spot. Cue ball in hand behind the head string. First make the front ball. Second shot make the rear ball.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll add “long large-angle drag hold shot” to my list of possibilities.

That’s shot 12.

Good idea, though.

I thought this thread was for your 10 "groups" of shots? Now its asking us for something for a third BU exam? ha ha, you are a good switch and baiter;)

Let me know if you think of any others not already on the list.

Catch you later,

At first, BU Exam III was going to be based on the Top Ten Shot Groups video. Now it has morphed into something else, thanks mostly to JoeyA.

Any shot ideas?
I probably should have started a new thread, but it is what it is.

Again, here’s the tentative list of shots:

So you are looking for fancy shots?

How about the 4 rail inside spin shot to get back around table to shoot a ball in the same pocket. Comes up most in one pocket. You know it, its on Flemmings Creative Edge video.

Found the video from Pat on youtube. Direct link (2 min 50 sec):
https://youtu.be/MXhnGwL6aBY?t=170

I remember when I saw this video on VHS in the 90's, I tried the shot all day and could not get it. I forgot about it for 10 years, then tried it again (as my skill had gotten much higher in the 10 years), and it was much easier:)

I’m looking for challenging shots that might come up in game situations that require lots of skill to execute. I don’t want the type of “trick” or “artistic” shots that would never realistically come up in game situations.

Thanks. I’ll add this to my list of shots to consider.

I edited my post before with the link to the inside english 4 rail position shot, if you didn't know which one I meant.
