New version of YouTube video - this time with captions

Several people, mostly the younger guys out there I suspect, told me that they wished the slide show/video I did of the 1982 Dayton Open had included the NAMES of the players so they could put names with faces. So this morning I uploaded a version that has some captions, hopefully not too intrusively done. For the most part, a player's name appears ONLY the first time that player appears in the slide show/video. Adding the captions required a few changes in the zooming/panning, but I think it works OK. Let me know what you think. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu-4gKhaBzY

Perfect, Bill, thanks.

Boy, I sure hope you put together more when you have time. I know how these projects can go. They are a lot of work and then you wonder why you do it, but people do appreciate this stuff. I've had fun with my web site but it needs constant attention.

That is awesome!

I thought that it should have the captions when I saw it the first time, but didnt want to come off sounding negative.

I would love to see a "Keith McCready" one.

more to come

Chris, thanks! I hope to do at least two more of these. One using images from the 1983-1984 Reds tournaments and one using images from the 1986 Clyde Childress tournament. For me, the real challenge is finding the right music background and matching up the music to the images.

Well a small project turned into quite a large one thanks to our prompting...

Thanks a ton Bill!

That helped me put some faces to some names, and I'm sure the players would love seeing their names in lights :D

Colin, I keep forgetting that not everyone is 60+ years old. I recognize all these guys because I was there at the time, but you youngsters need the names attached to know who's who. BTW, I finally got around to checking out your cue-TV website and it's OUTSTANDING! I'd be proud to have my little slide show on the site.

Jimmy is Lou's younger brother. And also Pete Zhender's younger brother and Doug Zhender's older brother, just to give you more information than you really wanted.;)

Very cool clip there Bill! I recognized the big names, who were much younger there, but wouldn't have known any of the others. Thanks a lot for all your hard work!

Thanks nice video, you prob made Colins day too, he hasn't been called young since the blitz, I've seen younger looking fossils! :p

Did Cornbread Red

ever go to Houston? I lived in Houston in early 70's when Jersey Red, Boston Shorty, Eddie Taylor, and others were there. $100 1 pocket games all the time, and 1 was shooting with a broomstick handle ... lol

He looks familiar sort of to me, just wondering if he might have gone down Houston way in the 70's.

Friday night, I was talking to a friend and competitor, and he was warming up for a match, and something about his shooting that I just couldn't put my finger on. I watched for awhile.

He's a lefty, and then it hit me, he strokes the ball just exactly like Mike Sigel does, and so I said something to him about the similairity, and he said, "You know what, he is my favorite pro player, and I have tried to copy his style and method of play more than anyone else".

I was kind of proud of myself to pick up on that .... lol

Awesome video Bill, Im going to add you to my Youtube friends. Thanks for sharing. good song choice for the video too!

Listen here you whippersnapper, this young 'uhmm' Tour:rolleyes: Rookie's not about to let you hijack this fine thread with your shenanigans:mad: It's time for my nap anyhows:p

To Bill, glad you enjoyed the site. I've still got a ton of vids to upload when I get a bit of time.

The legends section is pretty popular. I think players of all ages love to see glimpses of greats from the not-so-long-ago. It's a privilage to have a chance to preserve some of it and make it available for easy viewing enjoyment.

Just IMHO, but I'd say Buddy Hall was probably the most feared player in those days. Of course, Mike Sigel's record in finals was unmatched. I'm sure you've heard the old story of what Mosconi said when asked what he thought of the play of Buddy Hall; Mosconi was reported to have said, "Buddy who?":D

AWESOME VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you definatley need to make some more of these in the black and white. im a youngster, but i am so intrigued by the big money days when players didnt wear yellow and purple shirts covered in sponsors. i was born 20 years too late.
