So who are the new board members. I hope they don't let anyone from Florida count them votes. Johnnyt

I wonder what two won the vote count, or they didn't even bother to count? I hope they didn't fly all the way there to be told they were keeping the old board members. Johnnyt

So what's the deal with the keeping the old board members at the last minute? Who's idea was that and who were the two members that they kept? Johnnyt

dont kno official story on that, but heard Campos and Dawn Hopkins decided to stay on board, tho they were not on the ballot.
again, have no idea what the point of all the board nominations, lobbying, speeches by candidates, bios etc was for.

did hear alot of murmurs and grumblings from players that the wpba board is pretty "clicky" and not very organized

I guess if they let the new board members that were voted in cane on board, it would have made it too UN-Clicky. Johnnyt

Dawn Hopkins and Belinda Calhoun both ran again...as write-in candidates since their names were not on the ballot. The membership heard from all candidates, through letters or in person, and they chose to re-elect Dawn and Belinda.

The votes, as they are each year, were counted by 2 volunteers from the membership.

So the vote means nothing. The board just puts in who they want? Why even count the votes. Or did Dawn and Belinda get 1st and 2nd in counted votes? Johnnyt

Uh, I don't think that's what Melissa said at all.

Yes as WRITE-IN candidates. Seems a bit strange. Who was ON the ballot I wonder?

I think there must be a bit more to the story but that's a horse of a differnt garage. Ill live if i never hear it.

I was one of the 3 that was running for the board positions. From what I was told (which came straight from the WPBA) Dawn and Belinda were added as write-in candidates on-site at the elections (which is allowed, according to their bylaws). The membership voted and re-elected both Dawn and Belinda. It does not sound like there was anything fishy about the elections, they have both been involved in the WPBA for a long time and I'm sure they will do a great job, just as they have in the past.

Nice post, and you are to be commended for running. Being a WPBA board member is an unpaid, thankless job, and all those who aspire to offer their time and effort in this way are to be appreciated and respected for their level of commitment to women's pro pool.

As you've noted, Dawn and Belinda both have a long history of selflessly serving the WPBA organization, and I am sure they will do a fantastic job.

I can't speak for Dawn as I do not know her, but I do know Belinda. She has done so much for this game and not only for women. She ran a very good league for many years as well as tournaments. She has given lessons from her home and taught at a local college. She would play with me back when I couldn't put a run of 2 together and would not hesitate to offer advice. She is a great person and an icon in the pool world. Anyone that wants to learn anything about pool should listen closely to what she has to say.
