New WPBA Board Members

I can't speak for Dawn as I do not know her, but I do know Belinda. She has done so much for this game and not only for women. She ran a very good league for many years as well as tournaments. She has given lessons from her home and taught at a local college. She would play with me back when I couldn't put a run of 2 together and would not hesitate to offer advice. She is a great person and an icon in the pool world. Anyone that wants to learn anything about pool should listen closely to what she has to say.

I agree, she's a great ambassador for the sport so I'm not at all suprised that the membership voted to keep her on board, I would have too :)

i wonder if you are a paying WPBA member why you have no say so in the board members to begin with. it seems that only those in attendance at the last event get that opportunity. would love to hear from the Melissa or someone with knowledge as to why that is (or am I the only one that didn't receive a ballot?)

Here is a quote from our Bylaws:

The right to vote for candidates for the board of directors and on all other matters subject to organization vote is extended to all Exempt, Non-Exempt players in good standing. A ballot with all nominated candidates listed in alphabetical order will be included in the WPBA newsletter issued prior to the Annual membership meeting of the Association. Nominations will be accepted until the collection of ballots, which will take place at the Annual Meeting.

As I am not aware of who you actually are, then I cannot say whether or not you fall into the Exempt or Non-Exempt status in good standing. If you are, and you did not receive an electronic ballot, please contact the WPBA office to make sure that we have your correct contact information.

Thank you,

Melissa

I was one of the 3 that was running for the board positions. From what I was told (which came straight from the WPBA) Dawn and Belinda were added as write-in candidates on-site at the elections (which is allowed, according to their bylaws). The membership voted and re-elected both Dawn and Belinda. It does not sound like there was anything fishy about the elections, they have both been involved in the WPBA for a long time and I'm sure they will do a great job, just as they have in the past.

I MENTIONED IN A PREVIOUS POST I KNEW OF MIKE AND CINDY AND ASKED SOMEONE WHO KNEW YOU TO LOBBY FOR YOU. WHILE CINDY AND/OR MIKE WOULD BE GREAT, THE CLASS YOU JUST SHOWED DEMONSTRATES TO ME THAT I WISH I KNEW YOU AND YOU TOO WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT ADDITION TO THE BOARD.

Where can one get a copy of the WPBA bylaws? Would it be possible to post them?

I was told by one of the players that you had to vote for three names, not just one person.

Can anyone verify this?

If so thats really weird.

why is that weird? if they did it in a way that you choose in order of preference and then take the top two with highest votes or have three names marked taking the two highest. there are many variations to come to the same conclusion.

I totally agree with this post!!! If I had been there, I would have voted for her. I think that Cristina could bring a LOT to the table as a board member!!! Maybe next time Cris!!!! You have my vote! Well, as long as I get a ballot anyway!!

Ciao,
Amanda =)

Two spots open...why not each voting member vote for two that are on the ballot. It really didn't matter how they did it though. I'm sure they will get a lot of people on the ballot for a board seat next time....NOT. Johnnyt
