New Years Resolution

Actually, I've played at Magoo's a couple of times. I was in Tulsa, perhaps seven or eight years ago, for the WPBA Women's US Open 9-ball, which was in the hotel that's directly across the street from Oral Roberts University.

I probably saw 'ya and didn't know it. Open was in '12. I remember Collado coming in and matching up with someone.

Goal for 2021

try to eat more freshly prepared vegetables at each meal and try to estimate daily calorie usage

losing weight is way to challenging, I thought that would happen training for a marathon. I didnt lose weight.

My New Years resolution for 2020 will be to; Slow down, focus and stay down. I plan on more regular practice improving my game at least 1 level.
Well you have a resolution, now you need to focus on, and work hard on accomplishing what your resolution is. If you were given the task of walking 100 miles, my advise is do not concentrate on the 100 miles, just short part of the distance like 1/4 mile at a time. Make take easier to accomplish.

If you spent as much time exercising as you do putting up thread after thread you probably would lose some weight.
Professionally for me I have to practice putting up threads.

Competing for the attention of the young is not easy. There is so much TV entertainment available and its competing against me. If I weren't virtual I wouldnt be so active because I get my conversation workouts elsewhere.

Do 67 push-ups each day on and after on my 67th birthday. I know I can do it but wonder at what age the trend will end. Age 70 or so most likely. This morning, like most mornings, I did my 66 waiting for the toast to pop.

No meds or health issues but my resolution is keep the vehicles in the garage at least 5 days a week. During this Covid thing I’ve been cycling most places even in winter. We found that we rarely ‘have to’ go anywhere unless it’s to go hiking in the mountains or badlands. Even then we mostly hike around our property. Resolved to keep life simpler.

Billiards? I already play about 15 minutes to an hour a day but have never got a call to play on the Snooker pro circuit. Maybe I’ll make up my own league and declare myself world champion. Present myself with a trophy. Hang a photo of me with the trophy on the wall. When I pass on the great grandkids will just assume I was a legend and take my Snooker cue to Show and Tell.

Seems like a popular goal, the first part I am talking about. I am going to do my good deed for 2021 and get that out of the way. One good deed a year is about all I can tolerate.

Those hoping to improve their mechanics, here is the gift. Smooth. Repeat this to yourself as the last thing before getting down on a shot. If you absolutely can't quit thinking when down on a shot, replace what you are thinking with "smooth" over and over. Not as good as the verbal mind shutting up but better than most things we think. A smooth start to the last forward stroke and a smooth natural finish on almost all shots will be very rewarding if we ingrain these things into our game.

"Smooth" is my magic word.

You lost more "weight" than you realize. You lost fat and gained muscle so while the scales might not have shown what you were looking for it was actually a win/win deal. Muscle burns calories so the more muscle the more calories we burn. Muscle weighs more than fat for the same mass also helping hide weight loss. I did the reverse after a major injury. I was fairly fit so I had a lot of muscle and not much fat relatively speaking. I could honestly tell my doctor I hadn't gained a pound for the first six months but I wasn't kidding myself. I lost a lot of muscle and gained fat so at the same weight I was in far poorer physical condition. After about eight or ten months the muscle loss had stabilized and I started piling on weight.

Hmm, I think I can count this as a good deed too. Got to write this down, I already have 2022 covered!

My resolution is to post a video in the ghost thread. It will be just the six ball ghost, but just posting will be a step.

Haven't been able to play any pool since march, apart from a couple of hours in the summer. I haven't made any pool resolutions, but I hope to be able to play again this summer.

My resolution is to continue to try to improve at equal offense and get good to at least level 13 on Dr. Dave's Runout Drill System (RDS) and be able to do it consistently. I've ran a few racks of 9, but I'd like to beat the ghost (level 14) at least 50% of the time... may be too much for a year, but we'll see.

I think I'm somewhere around level 10. I can do the 15 balls in any order with BIH (level 11) after break, but it's not consistent. I can do level 9 decently consistent and level 10 is pretty consistent. I think I'll actually start at level 8 and try for 80% before moving up each level. It's a very tough goal but I'm going for it. I'll actually start documenting this on the blog section so it keeps me on track.

For new years, I was told by a good player to take two weeks off, and then come back for my next instruction......cant wait to hear what it is :ROFLMAO:

For the last thirty years I’ve given up ice fishing for Lent and again as a new years resolution. Not this year! This year my resolution is to get my table in the garage all fixed up practice straight pool until it gets too warm to play. I might even get a portable AC unit if I can see some progress.

I’m still not going ice fishing though.
