New York City's Newest Poolroom - Society Billiards - Coming this Spring!

I play at SOHO and Amsterdam when Im in the Big City. Though I love those 2 spots. If your putting in Diamonds Im there. Will you be adding snooker and some heated no pocket billiard tables?

Jude, congrats on your room. I really envy you and hope to swing by very soon. I hope to be on the road on the east Coast and would love to stop by with the guys. I wish you the best of luck.
Mark,

I would have loved snooker or carom tables but in order to have a true following, you have to have more than one and we simply don't have the space. We have 16 9-foot Pro/Am tables and 3 7-foot Smart Tables.

Congratulations on the opening, Jude!! I can't wait to check it out for myself, hopefully next month!

Yep, looks like the I'll be wicha der too!

By the way, Jude Pm'd me and said you had to wear a tie. :D

well I guess its masters in queens for me then. Not that I don't wear ties but I just want to drink beer and play pool.

Let me know what you think.

Yeah. Let's hear it for the heated no pocket billiard tables

I know a brand which perfectly fits a place like NYC !

Actually, our carting company provides full-service recycling. Regardless, in the upcoming weeks, to cut down on the cost of having them sort for us, we will be sorting on site.

Thanks, I was just busting your chops, I will make sure to stop by more often whenever I'm in the city.

Any word on Joss/Predator/Mezz/Tri-State Tour Stop anytime soon?

Stopping by Turning Stone this year?

I played at Turning Stone in December. I'm not making it for August. As for tournaments, we're discussing that now and will announce our plans as soon as possible.

Very nice place!

Just got back from my east coast trip!

As promised, Boradriver and I stopped by (It's been a couple weeks since) and we did our best to drain the bar. lol

It is a very very nice place. I was extremely impressed with the tables and the custom furniture was very cool. Whoever your contractor was did a very nice job.

Also, thank you to your cuesmith who did a very nice job putting on a tip for me who happened to be there on his day off.

I'll definitely make it a regular stop on future visits out east.

Best of luck Jude!

Apologies in advance if this is a little long, but I just have to give major props to Jude and Society Billiards.

I'm a captain of an APA 8-ball team. As many of you know, this can be a thankless task. My team had been shooting out of a divey place at 29th & 9th. The bar wasn't very supportive of the team, even when we brought home hardware, but it was a place to play. I had thought of moving the team, but inertia kept me from doing it.

The last straw came about a month ago. One of the owners was just in a bad mood, and he chose to take it out on me towards the end of the night. He went off on me literally for an hour, including while I was trying to take care of paperwork with the other team's captain. I had to sit there and take it because of the pool team. He later apologized and admitted he was out of line, but this was just too much.

I got permission from the LO to move my team mid-season, and Jude graciously welcomed us to Society Billiards. Talk about night and day. Strangely, when I told the other bar I was moving the team, they banned me from the place.

I got word out to the division's captains, who were all glad to learn of the switch. Well, all except for one. There's a new team in our division and I didn't have their contact info. They were playing at our place last night. I emailed the LO Sunday to ask him to let them know, or give me their contact info so I could let them know.

I never heard back from them. Tuesday night came, but the other team didn't. I tried to call my former bar, and they just hung up on me. We don't have a division rep, and when I called the other team's home bar, they didn't have any contact info, either.

Enter Jude. When he found out what was going on, he went on his own to get the other team. I didn't ask him to do this, I didn't even know he was doing it until he left. He found the other team and brought them back.

Anyway, thanks a million, Jude. You didn't have to do this, but it was super-cool that you did it. I owe you one.

P.S. The Society Billiards patch looks great on my cue case!
