How much of each contributors $250 goes to the prize fund?

THAT, and for my $250, will I at least get some kind of memorabilia so when I explain the tourny to the next generation....they will get that the pool shooting public made this happen.....NOT just Dragon Promotions?

Am I able to give more than $250 or is that the max I'm allowed to throw away?

Why have what should be a five day tournament and drag it out over 7 instead? Let me guess, all the typical players who aren't back from the China Open that ends on July 5th (Hohmann, Appleton, ...) will have the schedule manipulated so they don't have their first match until the second day?

So drop those...

* Vote in the 14.1 Hall of Fame
* Free ticket to watch during any of the first 3 days of the round robin in person
* 1 dinner ticket to the 14.1 Hall of Fame Banquet
* Group photo of the entire 48 invitational pro player field

I wonder what I could get on eBay for this one:
Exclusive membership supporter of the oldest tournament in the world since 1912

So now we have...

* Vote in the 14.1 Hall of Fame
* Free ticket to watch during any of the first 3 days of the round robin in person
* 1 dinner ticket to the 14.1 Hall of Fame Banquet
* Group photo of the entire 48 invitational pro player field
* ALL access pay per View to all 7 days of the World 14.1

I won't get to NYC to take advantage of any of the tickets (maybe if it was a ticket to the finals I'd do it) and I won't get a chance to watch much of the PPV stream, so...
* Vote in the 14.1 Hall of Fame
* Group photo of the entire 48 invitational pro player field

I don't really have a dog in the HoF race so...
* Group photo of the entire 48 invitational pro player field

For $250, that better be the greatest picture in the world!

I don't think schedule manipulation has much to do with it. That didn't happen the last 2 years. I don't know about previous years and I suppose it could happen this year if the dates are tight.
I think the main reason for more days is to increase gate receipts. I've attended the last 2 years from Thur. thru Sat. and would estimate them to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5K per day. It's almost certain to be less during the RR stages but all in all it adds up to a considerable amount. I'd imagine the house gets a percentage and the rest goes in Dragons pockets.
The house benefits from greatly increased food and drink sales also. I don't begrudge them making money at all.
The ticket prices of $18 per session and $35 for the semis and finals are more than reasonable. Hell, the rear view of a couple of the waitresses walking around there is worth way more than that.

All that being said the RR stages could easily be 2 days instead of 3. It's a very light schedule as it stands now. According to their release this year has turned into 7 days instead of 6 (July 6th-12th). Where the extra day comes in I have no idea unless they're planning to increase the field from 48 to 64. I think they should increase to 64 and the final 16 spots would be available to anyone who wants to pony up the $600 enrty fee. There's a lot of pretty good 14.1 plyers in the NE, NY, NJ, PA area alone who might want to play.

As far as all the controversy over the name, etc. goes I agree on one front and disagree on another. I spoke to Cindy Lee and Charlie when I was there. Cindy I'd talk to again, Charlie I wouldn't. The word I'd choose to describe him from our brief exchange would be arrogant. In addition to that the refusal to respond to legitimate questions in his threads is disturbing. It shows a lack of respect for the people who may be supporting these events.
On the other hand would everyone like to see the event not exist? I for one wouldn't. There's only 2 major 14.1 tournaments a year. Sure, it would be nice if they'd change the name but I think everyone knows it's not really a true world tournament via-a-vis the ones of yesteryear. So regardless what it's called I hope it continues and more spots open up in the future so I could play. Let the sanctioning bodies deal with it. I'm not going to spend any time fretting about it.

One thing I'd really like to see is Joe Tucker, Mark Griffin and Snookers RI consider something similar. Joe's straight out right now dealing with American Rotation but perhaps in the future. The venue rivals Steinway and with those people involved it could be a first class event with world class play. Maybe scheduled around one of the Turning Stone events.

They can barely get 48, much less 64. The RR stage lasts way too long. Out of the 48 a third are just donating already. $18/session x2/day during the RRs is ridiculous. He charged similar when they did the events here in Jacksonville five years or so ago and no one attended, although maybe in NYC the price is reasonable.

The stream will be high priced and then when it has issues they will act like they don't know what is wrong yet repeatedly in the past it was the same issue where they didn't lock out the WiFi at Steinway and reserve it for the stream.

Surprisingly he only posted this "NEWS FLASH" once and not four times.

I have gone to every one of these tournaments since Dragon Promotions has been running it. I have always enjoyed watching such high caliber play. When it was at the Hilton in East Brunswick it was great for me. I only live about 15 minutes away.
Steinway is a great place to watch matches. Also, the food is fantastic. The draw back is getting there from where I live. Last year I drove to Queens, about an hours drive, and stayed in a hotel. I will probably do the same this year.
I would donate to keep the tournament going, but I want to make sure that at least 80% of the money goes to the players. The promoters have a right to make money, pay refs, and all the other people who run everything. The problem is I have heard that DP takes a big cut of the money. I would like to know how much they take. If people were not donating then it would be non of our business. If I am putting any money I want to know.

What year is this for the CW Straight Pool Tournament is it year 6,7, maybe not even that many. Does anybody know ??? ...

I think it started in 2006, so this will be the 10th year that Dragon Promotions has produced the event. The first 5 years it had "Predator" (a key sponsor) in the name.

I can't see this being sanctioned. I love 14.1, but it's a game no one plays much, other than the northeast. There are still many from around N.Y that will throw $250 to $10,000 away for a few days of watching or playing 14.1. Johnnyt
