these days ,
customer service sometimes isn't always quite what we would like it to be
we ALWAYS hear about the bad stuff
so i thought i'd pass along one of the good stories

on 8/14 i ordered a qt. of clear & half pint of hardener
it kinda slipped my mind until i was down to fumes on my current can of clear
that was on the 20th
usually they have it shipped to me within 2 days, 3 at the most
so i did some checking to make sure i did order it as i thought i did
then called to find out why i hadnt received it yet
they said they were out of quarts, and were expecting them that week

another week goes by, still no clear
i called again on the 28th , they still didnt have the quarts
i mix at 3 to 1 ratio, so there's always more clear leftover than hardener
i said i could get by a little while longer if he just sent me the hardener until the rest of the stuff came in

yesterday the fedx truck pulls up with a BIG box
bigger than the usual box for my standard order
he sent me the half pint of activator from the original order
along with a GALLON of clear & QUART of activator
and a note apologizing for the delay with a big NO CHARGE for the gallon :happydance:
sweet!!! that's about a $100 gift

KARS
KALAMAZOO MICHIGAN
http://www.kars.us/?mainURL=/store/category/h9rq/Transtar.html
there used to be a place less than 5 miles from house that sold transtar
not only were they $40 higher on it, they also quit carrying it:thud:
that's how i ended up finding KARS
shipped from michigan, $40 cheaper than i could buy it locally
THANKS to KARS & MR. MORTLOCK:clapping:

Thanks for sharing. I often think service like that is dead and buiried. The world needs more like that.

Good story.
Great peeps at Kars.
Now, those will be too much to store.
Send me some.

Your right, the resin will last forever but the Transtar hardener has a pretty short shelf life once opened. You can keep the quart in the refrigerator until needed and use the half pint.

I used Transtar for a number of years and actually liked it pretty much. I started using it while my shop was in Columbus. I used to get it on rt.747 just outside of Springdale but they quit carrying it so I started getting it at a paint supplier in Northside until I changed over to PPG. Smyth's also used to carry it but quit. Most suppliers only carry one name brand and Transtar only makes clear coat, no colors. That is why I used it as I figured that since they weren't spraying the clear over their own colored finish they had to make it so that it would adhere to many types of substrates. I figured this gave me an edge into assuring that it would aggressively adhere to my cues.

A few places sell nitrogen in a can. Nitrogen is heavier than air and will blanket the hardner (Iso) from the air that has moisture in it which causes the hardner to crystal.
