You should practice using tight pockets because you are prepared for the worst in real competition.
And when you play on tables with generous pocket sizes, you will be a much, much stronger player.
So when visitors come to play on your home table, they have to beat you by only playing their best.
It’s analogous to playing on 9’ tables all your life and switching to 7’ tables. The game is just easier.
If you become good playing with tight pockets, you’ll become a monster playing with 5” corner pockets.
That’s twice as wide as a pool ball.....2x......that’s awfully generous IMO.....4.5” should be the standard.
