My nickname has nothing to do with pool, pool halls, betting, gambling, games, sports or anything. I just adopted it for pool because I kinda like it, but I don't know why.
A little over seven years ago my uncle got divorced. The result of the divorce was something many people are familiar with, he kept the house but very little of the furniture.
My family and I went down to visit him (he lives in the US and I live in Canada) soon after the seperation. My parents got a guest room with a bed. I on the other slept in a bare empty room with a cot in the centre, with a bare lightbalb hanging down from the ceiling. It looked as if I was sleeping in a Mexican prison cell. As a result my uncle joked that Im a prisoner.
Now my uncle was a huge fan the late 60's television show "The Prisoner" with Patrick McGoohan. This led to him calling me THE prisoner "wait! he's number six". For anyone who hasn't watched the show, the place that number 6 was imprisoned looked nothing like a prison cell, not in the least.
Over the past seven years, I can not remember him refering to me as Cameron. He always calls me six, or number six. His kids call me six, or number six. Furthermore we haven't even mentioned the show in years. I have told my friends about it and a few of them now call me six, or number six. It was only natural to adopt the nickname for pool (I have it written on my cue case).
Its not a really an exciting story or even that funny but, meh. You wanted a nickname story.
