First a Congrats to Rory you are the man
Coming down to the last hole with daylight running out

The officials and the group ahead of Rory's , Phil Michelson and Ricky Fowler made the decision to let Rory's group tee off and then hit their second shots allowing the tourney to finish tonight ,, the players could have refused
and Rory could have said he will come back tomorrow
Instead they played out and allowing it to finish to nite

The PGA made the right decision in a snap and Phil and Rickey could have refused but this is the PGA they have a great deal of respect for each other and more importantly the game itself ,, no bickering or crying which they could have
Just great sportsmanship that you come to expect from PGA
Professionals .. Pool could learn something from these guys

Pool could learn a lot from studying the PGA.

Virtually every public high school in the USA allows students to letter in golf . A large percentage of towns and cities have municipal golf courses . No municipal pool rooms. Pool might be able learn but never achieve such subsidy .

The PGA would not be able to nurture such sportsmen if they were trying to package and sell miniature golf to a well heeled audience the way pool tries to package and sell rotation games.

Pool could learn a lot from studying the PGA. By studying their business model.

Coco , they could study the business model all day but they just don't have the resources , and no one is likely to create a competing golf tour. Anybody could challenge any pool tour out there with the funds equal to the prize money Rory won today.

^^^^^ Pool on pool crime right there. Not good.

But you study, start out small, and grow upward. No effort, no return.

There are many other games/ sports that don't have golfs money that have great sportsmanship. Bowling Darts trapshooting to name just a few have much better sportsmanship and transparency among players and TD

The size of the purse should have nothing to do with the sportsmanship. It should be the love of the game, self discipline, respect for your fellow players, and being role models. Reading these threads it's plain to see that pool players, as a whole, don't get it. Stealing at tournaments, backstabbing, whining, et al...
What kind of example do you think this sets of our sport? Just my 2cents.

It's not right or a good thing
But let the pga tour play a us open and first be 25k
And you might not even get paid for a year
See how they act then

Your post is nothing but TRUTH, it earned you GREEN.

Especially with dress codes.

I understand your mission to help Pool is for the dress code to be so loose, there was no dress code, and anything is acceptable as dress.

Must be working real well, as corporate America is willing to take Pool players money they spend freely on beer, and spirits for example.

But I do not see corporate America throwing any money at the sport of Pool in prize money, sponsorship, or sponsoring live pool events on network TV.

Keep working on that no dress code thing, as I think it has great potential.

It is easy for a bunch of multi millionaires to be good sports.

A golf course is closing right now every 48 hours in this country and by the ratings no tiger.. no one cares.. yea it's dyeing. I don't think it will get to the level of pool dyeing but the glory days tiger woods provided are definitely behind.

I guess you didn't see those monster crowds yesterday ,, the yr tiger missed the British they set a all time atendence record , golf courses closing has more to do with the over building durrung the false economy than lack of interest
I'm sure next yrs Masters with Rory going for 3 in row will have high ratings
Golfs not dying by any stretch of the imagination

I agree man. I was golfing a lot then and there were a ton of people on the course we're terrible and had no golf manners. They would wander around the course looking for there ball forever. Not ready to hit the ball when it's there turn. It's ok to be a bad golfer. It's a tough game!! Just be ready to hit the ball when it's your turn. Take more the one club out to the Fairway if your not sure which you'll need. Don't spend 20 min searching for ball. Take a drop and move on. Ready golf lol

The crowds don't mean a thing. There will always be plenty of people to shiw up and watch a major. How many people are watching at home is what matters. That's where you get that big corporate sponsorship that fuels the sport and unless your head is stuck in the sand those numbers have plummeted . nobody but hard core golfers gives gives a crap about rory. . You have any idea how many people watched golf who never played to see what tiger would do? Maybe your a tiger hater and that's ok but what he did for golf goes beyond being the greatest golfer in history.
