I guess it may be true. I saw a moving truck in Santa Monica today and some table parts being taken out. No more house of billiards. I've played there for several years watching the likes of one pocket Rich, Danny shades, Wayne, and Magdy matching up against many. Too bad I really liked this room.

LA is becoming a pool desert.

That's really sad the hear. The cost of commercial space is pricing pool rooms out of the LA area.

Housing prices is also crazy. Friend retires in June, he lives in East Bay, think it Alameda County.

Has small home he bought 15 years ago, 275k. He should get 1.1 -1.4 million for it.

He saying bye bye, to CA, moving to friendlier pastures.

Is that the one at the end of Wilshire? I visited a couple times. Saw Lori Shampo practicing at the back of the room. Don't remember if I even hit a ball in there. Are the old rooms from the 70s even around anymore?

He definitely didn't love pool, or pool players. He treated them mostly with contempt. He also inherited the property.
Never been. A buddy lived two blocks away about 10yrs ago and played every day. He loved the place. I'd sell in a heartbeat for what prop. goes for there.

It was a great room. The owner was hardly ever there. He mostly came in to check the books and leave.

RIP

The value of the building is too much to justify keeping it open.

A highest and best use thing. I’ll spare the explanation

Fatboy

Santa Monica has always been a desirable place to live, work, but I would assume it has become more pricy in 2022.

Recall a great place to eat on Wilshire Boulevard, the Broken Drumb, best split pea soup.

It’s super expensive now.

I don’t recall that place on Wilshire. What year was it?
