Guys, I hate to say it, but I told you so!

And for those control freaks and supporters of non-smoking laws, etc, YOU HAVE NO GRIPE. You've made your bed, lie in it.

And aren't these "snitches" really just law-abiding citizens doing their "duty?"

Once you've given up the property rights concept, YOU HAVE NO GRIPE WHEN IT IS USED AGAINST YOU. That's the problem with it and why I constantly harp on it here.

And that's why the NPR/political section is really integrated with the Main Forum, like it or not.

UUHHH okay.

The fact that you and Paul have haters nipping at your heels is only because you are doing something right. Haters only hate successful people. Lewis, keep up the fantastic work.

BTW, I'm still donating at Fuqua.:)

The Fast Eddies 9Ball Tour IS the best thing to ever happen to pool in Texas! It has sparked interest at all levels. Hopefully you'all can figure a way for the tour to make sense for everyone involved.

You know I will support you in any way I can! I believe most tour members are thinking the same way.

See you in H town!

WTF? Why is the window required? I've been in LOTS of places with bar tables and no window.

In Texas, if you have a pool table or tables in your establishment, there must be a window on the exterior wall or door of the building from which ALL pool tables can be viewed.

This law was explained to me about 25 yrs. ago, that pool tables are looked upon as devices on which "gambling" may occur so law enforcement officials can observe the activity around the tables from the exterior of the building.

Here in San Antonio, there is a city ordinance that states you may not start a game of pool after 2:00 a.m. and before 7:00 a.m. in the morning. That's why there are no 24 hour pool rooms in SA.

WOW! those are some pretty outdated laws. To bad all my freinds are pool players and not in city government. we seriously need to do away with old useless laws

Damn, and I was about to get my money back after buying myself all those times.

Stones, you seem pretty up on Texas law....does the state run gambling machines? Here in Oregon, there are video poker and video slots in nearly every bar in the state. All run by...the state of Oregon. IMHO, this is killing pool. Let's see, all hard liquor sales here are done by the state...same price for a bottle of whatever wherever you go. The state is into gambling big time. I can't wait until the state gets into prostitution and drugs. Then they'll have covered all the bases.

Follow the money...Government wants it's cut.

Currently, there are no legal gambling machines in Texas. We have the lottery, dog racing, and horse racing. There are some machines around where cash is sometimes paid, they are called eight liners. For years these places have been raided and closed, only to reopen a few months later, probably under a new name. The state does sell use stamps for these machines. So they are making money from every angle. That's probably why they don't mind these places reopening. It's just their way of getting their cut.

Where are we???

It sounds like we're talking about some Communist country here! Constant invasion into our private lives. All because,"we're not able to take care of ourselves".

Seat belts
Smoking
Gambling
Register all your guns
Have all your electronic activity monitored

What freedom do we give up next?

Whenever the Government monopolizes an Industry (gambling) we need to wake up and VOTE! Lobby. Whatever we can. Something is wrong here.

When the subject of expanding gambling comes up in Texas, you usually hear objections such as "It brings in a bad element", or religious groups are against it. Meanwhile we are surrounded by states that have casino gambling and slot machines at racetracks.

In my part of the state (SE) all the Texas money goes to Louisiana. I don't know how Texas horse racing tracks can continue to fill their races when purses in neighboring states are 4 to 5 times higher due to slot machine proceeds. It seems every year a bill is introduced and goes nowhere. Texas always lags behind, to the delight of neighboring states.

At least Texas has done a lot for Louisiana's economy.
