True it isn't low end. I wasn't meaning to Imply that with my post . I guess I would say that I'm dumping the stuff that I have under $2500 and accumulating the $3500 and up stuff.

true the market is a little soft, but that is why u should always spend a little more for the premium stuff. Last month i sold 3 cues for more than 23k, and i am selling 2 more totaling another 10k. It wouldnt be possible with the 2nd rate cuemakers. (although i dont consider, imo, southwest to be a premium cue unless made by franklin).

Cues can no longer be expected to sell "on demand", when you want to sell them for what you want to sell them. It takes patience to sell in a slow market. Plus it's summertime. People with money are on vacation and not playing as much pool.

E-bay has a diverse audience. You have regulars who are waiting to buy decent cues cheap and you have a transient audience who might be looking for a week or two, buy a cue, and disappear. That audience is high turnover and are the buyers generally willing to pay up for a modern custom cue.

When your auctions fails, I reccommend either relisting right away at no reserve, or waiting 3 weeks to a month, then relisting with your reserve. I bet you will have 50% new eyeballs on your ad. I've followed this system myself for years and it's worked like a charm.

fyi - I am by no means degrading your Phillipi.....It is a beautiful cue.

Your cue looks very nice. I would follow Tate's advise and try relisting it again in a week or so. We all try to buy low and sell high, but sometimes its like they say in the car business, "There's an ass for every seat, you just have to find it." (<:

I go to an auction occasionally where one of the auctioneers attempts to attract bidding by berating the audience for not having the brains to see the value in his items, it doesn't work too well there either.

To speak to this thread, I know when I'm contacted as an underbidder I'm often:

A) Suspicious that the seller was shill bidding me and got caught as high bidder

B) Reluctant to honor my bid which I feel was driven up by a bidder who wasn't serious enough to complete the sale (or a shill).

A few years ago I had one of the fanciest phillippi cues made and showed it to his son at vf and he said 6500 retail.After months of trying to sell I let it go for 2000 and was very happy to get that. There nice cues but ......

sorry guys I'm buying the cue now...and I will make the profit when the market is right....You can't go wrong with this cue...It will go up in value in the future because of the hit and craftsmanship...thanks for the headaches lol

BTW, IMO you should have taken the $1100, because the cue market is dead right now.

I'm curious. If you're buying it , how much are you paying for it?

That's how much it is worth. Any product at any time is only worth what willing buyer will pay a willing seller. No more, no less.
