A few years ago Jimmy had to do a school project just like his older sister had done. He decided to make two cues, with Barry helping him. One cue went to his mother and Jimmy was kind enough to not only let me buy the other, but he wrote on the butt. Jimmy Szamboti for Brian Piesner. Brian is my son and they got along very well. If you guys never met Jimmy, he is a fantastic guy. It was great seeing him this year before VF.

That is a great story.
This cue is a true one of a few and you are very fortunate to have it in your collection.
Great work from what I can see in the pictures and I am sure it will be a prized possession for your son as he learns to appreciate the hobby of collecting cues.

Great pictures and looking forward to seeing your picture taking skills get better with each cue you share with us.

thanks Myron. I have been like a kid in a candy store with 50 bucks in my hand, taking pics like a wildman LOL. I am having more fun with these cues now that I can take a somewhat decent shot. Hopefully I will get better.

Great cue...great story...and my favorite veneer color pattern of all time. Congrats Steve!
 
Very nice story. Good looking cue. Pix are getting better.

The cameras of today are very good. What is needed is a good light source and a tripod. A good light source brings the color out and the tripod takes the shakes/blur out.
 
I understand Jimmy is getting into the cue making,studying under the old master,Barry has become the old master.It won't be long till Jimmy is the man.
 
Now, to be honest, I liked those Gina cues you posted the other day, but I LOVE THIS. Wow, great looking cue. How does it play? I guess there's zero chance of me ever buying that from your son. hehe!! That is just great. What an item to have.

Yes, I totally agree. You have posted some beautiful cues, Steve. All really nice stuff. However, its this cue that makes me want to post. This is simply awesome.

I met Jimmy with his dad at VF. Barry couldn't stop talking about how proud he was of Jimmy. The man loves his son, it was clearly evident. If Jimmy chose to make cues, we have the future covered....and I am thankful.

I can't believe we didn't meet at VF, Steve!

That is a great story!

I was just talking with my buddy at the pool room yesterday and he had noted this story. Lately I just feel as if everything is just in tune, even my pool game is stepped up to the next level.

I am very curious what your playing cue is? Out of everything what do you "choose" to play with?

Thank you all for the nice comments, I will keep putting them on. One thing you can absolutely count on is how much Barry loves his family. He is a great father. I thinks thats why we hit it off so well back in 92 or so. I got my chance to meet Barry for the first time at his Dads house and saw the famous shop that Gus worked in. Now we got the famous shop that Barry works in and soon Jimmy will be working in. A great family.
Simon lets make sure we meet next year at VF.
Pauly, I attempt to play some pretty lame pool with a fabulous cue, its Timmy Scruggs old playing cue. It is a box cue with ringtailed lizzard wrap and a thinner than normal handle. I will post pics of it

My cues too definitely exceed my abilities on the table, however a fine instrument definitely helps!

I hope to one day have a Szamboti myself. I have spoken to Barry several times on the phone and he is a very very nice gentleman that is passionate about building the finest cues possible. I am glad following Si's comment that the family tradition will continue, what a legacy!

I just want to add my thanks for displaying all of these great cues. Very nice of you. It is great to see these being shared.

This cue is my idea of perfect. Simple yet elegant and classic and like Jamie mentioned the veneer combination is outstanding.
