Not leaving a feedback

What would or could you do if you sold a brand new item on E-Bay and the person receives the item but does not leave a feedback? Then you E-MAIL them and ask them to please leave a feedback and they do not respond...Forget about it???

Usually means buyer was unhappy with the buying experience but didn't want to leave a bad feedback comment for fear of retaliation. If you ask or expect feedback and ask in the wrong way, you might anger the buyer and they'll drop a nice feedback bomb on you. Best to leave these things alone and tread lightly. Asking for feedback almost always backfires.:)

BTW - I'm sure your auction was legit and you shipped what you advertised. Some buyers are never happy.

Welcome to E-Bay.......... it happens all the time, sellers or buyers :(

Another possible scenario is the buyer is waiting for you to post your feedback first. Happens to me quite a bit.

or theyre just too lazy and just dont care about giving you a good feedback or they just forget about it. Some ppl just dont care I guess

Most people probably don't leave feedback. It'd be nice to be recognized for being an honest seller, but not much you can do.

I just bought something on ebay and received an email from the seller. In the email they said "My feedback policy... So that you know I will not forget to give you a good feedback,
I give you exactly the same feedback as you give me within 48 hrs."

This TOTALLY rubs me the wrong way and this person will not get feedback from me.

The seller grades the buyer on promptness... did the buyer pay promptly, did the buyer email/respond quickly... things like this.

The buyer grades the seller on email/response, shipping, and condition of the item.

According to the seller that I bought from, even though I was prompt in all aspects, if I find him NOT to be prompt or the item isn't as advertised, he's going to give me the same feedback.... F that!

I don't ebay a whole lot and there's been a few times where I've simply forgotten and by the time I go back on there, it's too late. I genuinely feel bad for forgetting.

There are a number of different reasons... the one's I've mentioned along with them possibly being new. If they only have a few items bought, they might not've learned the ways of the world where ebay is concerned... kinda like some people that come on here for the 1st time and post things in the wrong forum. It happens... some are forgiving and understanding while others are down right rude and refuse to take into consideration that the person is new to the forum and that they're not forum savvy. :rolleyes:

As you can tell, there are a number of reasons why someone doesn't leave feedback.

If the buyer has completed their part of the bargain... communicated in a timely manner and paid in full, what's left to wait on as far as the buyer is concerned when it comes to leaving them feedback? They did what they were supposed to do, right? Unless I'm missing something, there's nothing else left to "grade" them on. :)

Yeah I think it works both ways. You don't leave feedback because he doesn't and you don't leave because he doesn't. Or it is from a major powerseller who has too many to do and doesn't feel the two hours of leaving feedback helps him any. I have bought several items from Joe Rackem (Neilsen) and not sure if he has left any anytime. i have left several. Just have to deal with it I guess.

I deal with Joe a lot and he has allways left feedback, he's a good seller :)

What could you do? Nothing. What would I do? Let it roll. My music store has an Ebay store and we constantly don't receive feedback for items sold even when we know we should. Happens all the time and the only thing you can do is realize you were the better person for living up to your end of the bargain.

When I buy, I usually leave feedback, but sometimes I forget for a while and then do it. That said, my only obligation is to the seller is to pay the money promptly.

That's a ridiculous policy. You might send a note to Ebay, seems to me they're abusing the feedback system.

I'll disagree with this. Using Ebay for purchases means being familiar with and using their feedback system not only to help yourself, but to help others as well.

Just out of curiosity, was this auction for a pool cue or something pool related???

Ebay's feedback system is deeply flawed. The sellers all wait for the buyers to leave feedback. That way if they leave negative feedback the seller can retaliate and leave negative feedback also. Forcing the buyer to mutually remove feedback. So no one can leave bad feedback without the fear of getting negative feedback also.

I think they should implement a system where the opposite parties cannot see each others feedback until both have left feedback. And the general public cannot see the feedback until both leave feedback. This way there would be no retaliatory feedback.

Some of the high transaction people leave feedback all at once, so it might come later. Also, some people will not leave feedback before you do. Of course, some slobs don't leave feedback because they "don't do" a lot of stuff in life.

I don't care one bit because I already have a lot. I don't even check to see if someone left feedback but I know I've left more than I've received, but if you don't have much then I can see where it might matter to you.

I like to look at the page where you see what feedback someone left. The ones I like the most is where they have a hard time figuring what to say, so that all say the same thing, 350 times:

"excellent transaction, highly recommend, A+++++++"
"excellent transaction, highly recommend, A+++++++"
"excellent transaction, highly recommend, A+++++++"

The best feedback I've seen so far is one that says "I think seller is a little gay".

It was a brand new Schon cue....Well. Maybe I need to wait longer. He should of gotten the cue on Thursday of last week. I reminded him Monday. Not a real big deal since I have a 100% feedback but first time this has ever happened...Just was curious....

Here's how I see it - I couldn't care less if someone left me feedback. But...if I DID care and wanted to draw conclusions based on feedback, I wouldn't care too much about the rating - after all, the neg retaliation fear has caused all but the hugest losers to have 99% or better.

Instead, I would look at how many people had left feedback for the seller, and how many the seller had left for others. If the seller has left less than he/she has received, then he/she is probably an *sshole...period. If you doubt my logic, then check this out for a seller that you already think is an *sshole, and I bet you find it's true.

Yeah. Right.. I checked and this buyer has left 2 feedbacks out of 7 purchases...Oh well.....I'm over it....Thanks for responses....
