I think there are thousands that could do it now with info from the internet, CNC aided or otherwise.
No one knows the number. If we count everyone in the USA that has ever built one or more cues I would guess there would be over a thousand that fit into that category. If you raised the bar to something like 50 cues or more in their lifetime I would guess that number would only be a few hundred. I would also guess the number of cue repairmen that have a lathe to be well over two thousand nationwide. There’s making a pretty stick and there’s making a cue. If you have the money to get a CNC setup, you can do sticks easily enough.
I have the equipment to make a basic stick; no CNC, though. I could do the splice, some v-points, taper, joint, etc. nothin’ fancy. That doesn’t make me a cue maker.
The difference: I don’t know woods well enough to know how it flexes and moves. I don’t know how joints and splices react over time. I can’t take my stick and tell you how I could improve it, or keep the shaft from warping like a banana.
I can make sticks. I can’t make cues.
CNC is just another tool. It doesn't build anything for you. Not even "sticks".There’s making a pretty stick and there’s making a cue. If you have the money to get a CNC setup, you can do sticks easily enough.

Do you have links to pictures of any of his cues?Doug the tip man here in Colorado makes great cues from old and very old (100 years or so) house cues.
I've seen and hit balls with a few and he does really nice work.
Not only are they good looking but he makes them play good and thats the hard part.
He is a room mate of Cuesblues.
