OB-1 finally responded to my email

It's not cost effective to have one LESS pass on a shaft?

There is this business theory called " ease of entry to your market ".
Don't think for a minute it's that hard for one company to get in your market and really put a dent on your business. Then you react after that. Instead of before.
Don't be shocked, that a new shaft comes out next year that just might boggle everyone. How many do you think have it in the works right now?

If you think like this then you don't know how the OB-1 is constructed!

They can only take it down to a 12.2 mm in the tip because of the construction. I talked to Royce personally about this, and both of mine are 12.2mm because of this.

The Z is 11.75!

Therefore in order to do what you guys are wanting, they have to design a completely different shaft! Therefore cost is involved in the construction!

Period, dot, end!

I agree with everything you said here, and I understand that there will be cost involved in research. That was also true with their current model and almost every product ever invented.

I was asking them if they were planning on designing something to fit players like me. If not, cool. They knew what I was asking

They also know that many people would use a stiffer version of their product

IF you think leaving a little more wood in the 12-16" area of the shaft is going to affect cueball squirt that much, I give up.

I am waiting for someone to show me proof that one shaft will apply more english to a cueball than another shaft will. I've tried a simple test with house cues (including ones with press on tips), the other low deflections shafts mentioned above, and other random cues that people have let me try to test the amount of english I can put on the cueball. Not one of them has made a bit of difference in the amount of spin that I can impart on the cueball.

Surely you guys know how many knowledgeable people there are in the pool world that haven't been members of AZB for 5 years. Not to mention all of the ones that will never join. nope! 12.2 because of they way they do their wooden ferrule! It has a balsa wood tendon under the ferrule, and they are afraid to take it down anymore than 12.2mm because the ferrule probably wouldn't have enough strength to keep from breaking.

There isn't a hole in the 12-16" because the shaft is filled with foam in the hole.

That's another reason they don't hit like a predator, and that is another reason they don't have that sound of a predator.

The fact is that there are many more people like me that want the benefits of a Z shaft and the quality of a custom shaft.

If OB-1 doesn't make it, then that is fine. Someone eventually will make a shaft like this. I would guess based on conversations with other players that they would sell like hot cakes.

texpoolshark - I wish I had the means to start up a company to make something like this. Unfortunately I do not. By the time I have that kind of money saved someone else will already have it done.
