Has anyone compared the OB pro shaft to the predator shafts? If so what did you think? thanks

I have owned all of the Predators and OBs. Here is my order from favorite to least favorite. I am considering both deflection properties and solid hit/feel in the evaluation. I think most people want the best of both characteristics.

1. OB Classic Pro
2. OB Classic
3. Varney LD Maple Shaft
4. Standard Maple Shafts (from many different makers)
5. 314-2
6. OB-2
7. 314
8. OB-1
9. Z Shaft

So I would rather play with a standard maple shaft over numbers 5-9. And prefer numbers 1-3 over the standard maple. This is just my experience over the years. To each his/her own.
 
I currently play with ob classic pro.
Mine in order of preference.
Ob classic pro
Gulyassy sptx
Tiger x
Dominiak d2
Z2
314-2
Ob1

Played with all as a regular cue for while. So it's more than test hit comparison. However,it's skewed because of my own skill progression. However I think classic pro is the best for me.
 
My OB1 is the best LD shaft I've ever tried.

To each his own...
 
It took a few years to figure this out. But I find the OB is a little more forgiving,,but gives (near)the same results as the predator.

There might be a slight edge for the predator on cue ball action. But must be hit well consistently. And why I say the OB is more forgiving.

IMO,,they are very comparable.

I now shoot with the OB.
 
Thanks guys. i love OB and there customer service. i love my break cue.
i think i might just have to get either a OB pro shaft or a OB cue with a pro shaft
 
Have you tried these shafts in person? Maybe someone in your local poolroom or bar has one? I find many people are careful, but proud of their cues. If you show yourself to be responsible, and ask politely some people may let you try their cues or shafts.

This is pretty close to my opinion on the subject.

I have/still use both the Predator 314-2 and the OB Classic (I gave up on the Z-sized shafts several years ago). The difference, aside from what's stated above, is that the OB has a slightly stiffer hit. Not a lot stiffer, but enough to tell.

I have played with OB and predator. I didn't care for the predator, but I did like the ob2. My favorite, and one you should at least try is the Jacoby Hybrid. I love mine with a Kamui Black SS.

JMW (or anyone really) have you ever tried the McDermott I-series shafts? They hardly seem to get a mention on this site and I wonder how they compare and where it would rank in your list.

I have a Joss butt with a i-2 shaft and think I would like to try something a little less bendy. I like the sound of a solid maple shaft and the i-2 is ok in that regard but i've never broke with it, anyone know if it would hold up to that kind of punishment?
 
I have been playing with a Predator for years. I had a 314 and then moved to a 314-2. A friend picked up the Jacoby Edge, and I really liked it. I am close to jumping ship. It seamed so much effortless then the predator.

I keep reading here hoping to see more reviews and opinions of the edge shaft.
