Vin,

The cool thing about it is that when it gets a little clogged up, you just hand wash it with soap and water. The washing cleans out the grit and freshens it up a bit.

The KB Polysand abrasives are superb. I've been using them for years. The are quite pricey, though. Another excellent product is the Mirka Abralon foam-backed discs commonly used for polishing bowling balls or fine woodworking. Go with 4000 grit, the finest available in their line, for a smooth, satin sheen finish with very little material removal. The coarser grits are only necessary for preliminary sanding if you are doing a recoat with sealer or have roughened up the surface with a Magic Eraser. Do a search on eBay for "Abralon" and you'll find a number of vendors selling a 4-6 sheet assortment for under $20.00. Of course you won't have the cool OB1 logo.

Save yourself some money and get micromesh or some other cloth-backed superfine item. Share the cost with other players because you shouldn't have to sand more than once or twice EVER if you take proper care of your shaft. That is to say clean it and buff it constantly with a simple soft terry cloth or some like fabric, even during games.

Or just get the red/white/blue imperial lapping film. And again, don't worry about reusability because you shouldn't be sanding your shaft that often anyway.

I recently tried the films/papers used in polishing fiberoptic connectors. These work extremely well and I dare say shouldn't take any wood away since they polish glass. I never knew these were called imperial lapping film until I just did a google search...

The most cost effective way is to just get ONE package of the red/white/blue stuff. Imperial lapping film is made by 3M and you have to buy a pack, something like 50(8x10) sheets. This amount would last the whole USA pool playing community until the day Iceland starts growing sugarcane.

its not the same exact brand but its the same design, 4 but 8 shaft soft case with a shit ton of pockets. i have one and love it over my 3b6s vincitore leather. i have the brown one:

http://www.seyberts.com/catalog/Soft_Cue_Cases-210-1.html

they also carry the q-wiz which is what that ob1 sander is. i use one and love it. it works 10 times better than the micro burnishing film and is much easier on the sahft than the old school #M green scrubber pads. One side is a light abrasive and the other side is a smooth leather for burnishing.

Hope you like your purchase......

Lapping film

PM me your address and I will send you a couple sheets of the green lapping film, no charge. I've been using it for years in combination with 1500 grit paper. Works great. They last a long time.

thanks:cool:

is that $67 for a set? or do they sell blue only? :D

Looks like cyrex might have you covered. I got mine long long long ago as a a single pack of blue. A sample pack would be a total waste on money.
