OB2's are Here!

I have been very happy with my OB-1 but have always wanted to try a Z2...now if I find some extra money laying around I can try one of these! :D

just some marketing feedback for Royce...i would rethink the name ob-2. it makes it seem like this is the newer version of the shaft, and the ob-1 is the "old" version. simply going by the version number. when in fact they are two different product lines like the 314 and z. one is a standard diameter, pro taper and the other a thin euro taper product, but one is not a newer generation of the other. so maybe something like "ob-1 slim"? and save the ob-2 moniker for the second generation design of both shafts. just a thought....

Hi Royce, I want three OB2, give me a PM when is ready in 5/16x14 and 3/8x11 SW Pin and 3/8x10.
Thanks,
Ralf

The OB-2's pretty much hold the same as the OB-1's. Shafts with a brass insert like the 14's 18's and UniLoc's are right at 3.6 to 3.8 ounces. Shafts that don't have the insert ar a little lighter at 3.4 to 3.6 ounces.

Even though the OB-2 is smaller overall on the outside, the inside dimensions are a little different due to the new core.

Thanks!

Hi Royce,

Will you be willing to do a 13mm tip size with that small core (OB2 construction) having a 3/8x10 Joint? It should be stiffer and have more feedback. PM me if possible and what price?

Thanx,

Hi Royce

When will these shafts go on sale? have you took any to the us open to sell?

thanks

jay

I just heard that The Action Report is selling any OB-1 shaft, including the new 2's, for $200, also including 2 DVD's of your choice.

Not a bad deal in my opinion!

Yes, The Action Report is offering the OB-2's as well!

And yes, we do have some OB-2's at the US Open! Currently they don't have our table up for people to try it yet, but they have promised it soon!

Hi Royce,

Is there any way to get one that is 4 - 4.3 oz? I test drove one at VF last year and really liked the hit.

Thank you,
Koop

Unfortunately no, I can't make one that heavy. At least not without just adding something heavy at the joint which would detract from the playability.

The long thinner taper we use on both our cue shafts means that there is just not as much maple there.

Isn't that the same one that Mike Gulyassy was selling on his Earl Strickland model?
I had one and honestly felt like it hit like mud.

i hit with Earl's personal stick made by Gulyassy, and it definitely was not an OB shaft.

This shaft and their new break shaft coming out intrigue me very much. I love my Z2, so the hit will have to blow me away for me to spend more money on a new shaft.

I have 3 OB-1 in 5/16x14 3.7 3.8 and 4.1

Ob-2 arrived today

Wednesday
The OB-2 arrived today as promised by Royce. I had an OB-1 but broke it and got lucky with the timing for the OB-2.
I'm rated a 5(8ball) but shoot rather inconsistently. Occasionally whoop a 6 then the next day get whooped by a 3. Wish I could find that switch that somebody is flipping. That just to let you know I'm no where close to an expert for a review.
I took it over to the bar where we usually play. I have not shaped the tip and just chalked it up as it came. The taper looks to have a just a little more of a conical shape than the pro taper on the ob-1. The stick felt stiffer and seemed be be more of a sold hit. I felt like I could not get as much English as I did with the OB-1 which I noticed more on draw shots. I think any info on deflection will take some time. I tried a masse (?spelling) for the hell of it and was surprised that I got a great curve with little effort. I thought I would have a hard time with a much thinner tip on the long strait shots but was much more consistent than usual. Quality of build and materials are excellent. Glad i have it. I really liked that long strait pro taper on the OB-1. I wonder how much of a difference it would make to put the same taper on this stick as I really like a thinner shaft.
Nice Job Royce and crew!
Thanks
Burt

Updated Thursday morning...
Shaped the tip and can get easily as much action on the OB-2 as I did on the OB-1.....still shooting like shit as I have been for the last month.
